08 Armada El Ray's

Anyone know anything about this ski.I more want to know about the flex in this ski,cause im looking for a more mid ranged/stiffer ski for next year that is in the high 80's for the waist.
 
Arent those the budget-friendly ski Armada is making next year?

needless to say, they should be dope though. Armada never dissapoints.
 
yep i was. but i just looked over the el ray and they look pretty similar to the ar6 just cap construction to make them cheaper and lighter
 
cap is just as durable if done right, (done right being the key phrase there, for example the chronics were done right). they are also more chip resistant.
 
they are a cap ski, and I think their construction will be as solid as it can be - keep in mind they're pressed in Atomic's Austrian factory and Atomic has been making very durable cap skis for a long time now.
 
the wides had problems, i don;t remember anything wrong with the normal ones though, they were the sames as the first years except different graphics. anyway i was referring to the most recent ones, which were bombproof.
 
The Normal ones had problems too, I for one, had a pair delam as well as a lot of other kids I knew. Almost all of the line cap skis delammed from that year. I know the Moships, Invaders, both flavors of Chronic, Shadows and Celebrities delaminated.
 
El Ray will have more of a continuous flex pattern. The flex is not regulated by core profiling, rather more of a fiberglass sock that creates a very even ski flex. This makes the incredibly easy to use. I found it holds an awesome edge because it's just stiffer than the ARV and still wide enough to go all mountain. I really like the ski a lot. Just some considerations. Also, the top sheet didn't chip up.
 
Well,since you sound like you've skied them.

How do they hold up,since everyone I've asked about cap construction said it sucked.
 
mine are still kicking but i got one of the few chronics that were still made in america's 51st state canada
 
I rode the shit out of them this year. I didn't hit a lot of rails, but the topsheet is not an issue. The bases are the same as the ar6 and hold up great. I'm super impressed w/ this one so far. We'll see how the first production run goes.
 
From my opinion,Armadas edges hold up a lot longer on rails then most company's.My ar5's from 2 seasons ago have maybe 2 edge cracks on them.Thats riding rails everyday,I used them maybe about 55-60 days.

My Salomon Thrusters on the other hand have maybe 6 edge cracks on each ski.I ride them maybe about 40.
 
armada edges aren't that good, i've seen alot of armada edge break and rip out, they seem to be pretty average in that category. the three best companies for edge durability: K2, Line, and Head. line's had some other problems, but the edges are solid as can be.
 
They're cheap, under 400, but they're cap construction I'm not really sure if that matters I've skied capped skies and never noticed much of a difference. Also they're pretty stiff I saw them today and flexed them. I haven't skied them but I've seen and flexed them so thats just my two cents
 
the el ray has almost the same dimensions as the blend.....el ray has 123 / 87 / 113mm while the blend has 125 / 90 / 113mm.
 
to whoever said atomic makes a durable ski...wow.

and nick, cap skis hold up well if they're made well. both my silencers and fujatives are cap skis and they've taken a solid beating. they are holding up a lot better than my 4frnts did, in all aspects.
 
People, it's El Rey, not El Ray! geezus, get it right.

They look pretty dope though. I think if you don't need the awesome park steeze of the AR6, then the El Rey would kill it.
