any one peeped the new gotamas?(in person) or demoed them?

A little more shape and a little bit stiffer. wondering how they will be on the groomers.. Which is an obsered question... but what the hell..
 
Absolutely Kill It. I skied them at the Mammoth demo in 183 and they destroyed everything from hard crud to pack to corn I will so have a pair soon. Much livelier than gots of old.
 
I wasn't stoked on the fact of more sidecut, but most people I've talked to say they ski better than the current Gots, which is alot to live up to.

Why the fuck would you want to know how they are on groomers?? If you get Gots, the groom is only the means to get back to the lift and get back to the goods!
 
^but luke if you can only have one ski and you demand performance in the gnar the got is a good option in which case it is good to know how it skis everywhere.
 
So its gonna be quicker to edge, but not as good for super long turns.

I was really about to buy a pair of gotamas in 190 this year, and then I bought new boots.
 
edge to edge will be about the same as the waist didn't change

yes not as good for long gs turns, but still plenty agile to do turns of all shaops and sizes
 
mine are on the FS line and a great for everyday use

if it's going to be your pow ski, then go on the FR line

many people like it right between the two...just depends on your preferences and uses
 
Yeah, I'll probably be using mine for everyday stuff and I think that the FS line will be good for me also becuase its a 190 and I'm about 6' tall.
 
seems like the new '07 Gotama could begin to canibalize the Mantra line with this new shape and profile, at least out West

I just bought one of the remaining pairs of 190 black Got's from this year because the lack of sidecut and the medium-to-stiff flex is perfect for powder the way it is now, imho, and I already own the Mantra as my everyday/hard snow/corn/steeps ski

but I can see Volkl being successful with the '07 as a compromise between the two
 
Very true...I hadn't thought of that, but as the Got has more sidecut now (and slightly stiffer), it seems most people will just go for the Got and Mantra sales will taper...

The black Gots is where it's at!
 
totally agree, especially with the '07 Mantra's awful neon graphics

glad I got the all black ninja Volkl quiver before they let the K2 people run wild on the topsheets

Not to mention they brought the tail profile way down so it would stop scaring old people so mych, who knows squawman you may even see 60 year old dudes rocking gots at your mountain next year.

I don't mind the tail being lower, it's still bigger than the Mantra tail, and it's gonna be my big mountain ski. But that was one of the distinguishing characteristics of gots was the wacky tail stub.

BTW white is the new black didn't y'all hear?
 
I miss the square tail. I snapped my 06 190 goats in half i hope they send me 07's... I have talked to mad people who have ridden them and say they are siiick and better then last years, i hope sooo. There way stiffer...
 
i wana demo these skis so badly. it seems like volkl is so quality all around and ive never shredded on any of there sticks. i checked some of these out in whistler(cuz i dont think there is one person on the east coast who would own this skis) and they look so ill. i guess ill have to try em out next year when i go back, im sure ill be happy with them
 
i demoed the 07s and i like the 06s better. i didn't like that there was more sidecut on the 07s. it bothered me for some reason. still a great ski, just not as good in my opinion.
 
I recon they will always keep the gotamas and the mantras even if they are real similar. As a mate said to me who works in a ski shop "the kamaras were the perfect ski for this older dude, but the guy looked at the twin tip and said, I dont want those jumpy types of skis, every one will expect me to do jumps".

Mantras satisfy the old school who aren't sold on the twin tip.
