Might be too soon to start this, but place your bets. Which resorts will open on what days?

Here are mine:

Baker - November 24th

Crystal and Stevens - 15th or 16th of December

Snoqualmie and White Pass - December 23

I'm not sure on the others. But snoqualmie...

Its going to be quite warm through November and early December, with lots of rain, then suddenly second week of December we'll get a crazy blast of cold, and a big dump, and Snoqualmie will open on the 15th (or 16th I suppose if it has to be a Saturday)

I bet baker will get a good dump of snow by mid november but not have enough to open till later in the month but the hiking and the BC will be a lot of fun prior to the opening

Let's shoot for November 8th again. Baker's 72in opening was the shit last year. same with stevens the day after that.SPKA

I know, fuckin amazing. I would take that again this year, please. Except, dont make me drive to crystal, we need North cascades!

What's with this talk about el nino on the news!!! They can't even tell what the weather going to be like tomorow! I say Screw em. We'll go were the snows at.

you guys are dumb. easily crystal will open by thanksgiving. and snoqualmie at least by december 1st. i know what im talkin about. you guys with your el nino and global warming are fuckgin dumb. how many of you fags said that last year was gonna be terribele. exactly . so shut the fuck up.

Well I know

thought last season was going to be good, but I don't have a good fealing about this one. but i think it will start like 2 years ago, but a little better, we will be skiing in december, it will be more like 4 seasons ago. but then when late febuary/march comes in its going to snow like mad.

I said last year was going to be good.

I keep hearing conflicting things about this year, but I do know this. Its going to be wet. AND the jet stream has been default WAY south this year, so California is just going to be nuts this year, like record year. While we won't get quite as much of the weather, it will bring the colder air way down further south!

So I'm thinking by that means, this winter is going to be really good.

i agree. farmers almanac which has a better prediction rate than most weatherman is predicting a wetter and colder winter than normal. the spiders have also been inside since the beginning of september, which is supposed to mean a cold winter....

way to late for snoqualmie. Late november to early december is what im thinking from all the predictions. Fuck el nino btw.

Two years ago we had an early snow and everyone shit thier pants... then the 04/05 season hit, and nobody skied until mid December. I'm not going to get excited about current weather forecasts, we all know they can change in an instant, especially around Washington. I'm sticking to my predictions (although I pray I'm wrong and it starts early).

You know, I was thinking, if we have an el nino year and it stays cold enough for it to actually snow.... fuck, that would be insane.

a southern jet streem is no good that means that what will be hitting us will not be coming over Alaska/ the arctic and so the weather will be warmer the usual. right?

Well, how I've always thought of it is the jet stream dividing the weather up. By having it further south its allowing cooler air and weather to come further south to us than it normally would. I know nothing about meteorology though, so this is all just my intuition talking.

we want northern jet stream, where it arcs into the gulf of alaska, then comes straight down into washington. thats why some of the mountains (hood especially) received snow a few weeks ago, it was a beautiful arc. Nice moist air went way north, then came down, so it was cold, yet full of moisture. pineapple express and the like are evil, just bringing scorching hot temperatures (like upper 50s) in january with liquid doom

dammit.

The northwest usually gets a series of good years and then a series of bad years in terms of snowfall. We've had a few terrible seasons lately, but considering last season, this year will hopefully be really good. Hopefully. But who knows, trends dont always stay true anyways.

Still, I cant get that feeling out of my head that buying pow skis this year was a great decision....

i think its pretty much impossible to predict this season until a little bit later, so many contradicting statements being thrown around by everybody....especially meteorologists

they have their reasons for preicting it. El nino is caused by warming pacific waters, which is gay. But, the water in the pacific has cooled for a few years (it does that, goes up, then levels off/down a little bit, then back up), so if it is warming, it might now warm enough to fuck us. But we shall see. That jet stream is a tricky thing.

and if the weather people are wrong about the forecast for next week... well just hope they arent

loveland and a-basin set to open within the next two weeks. haha, as long as stevens is open by thanksgiving i'll be happy.
