06/07 Public Enemy vs. 05/06 Public Enemy

The older model is a lot cheaper than the new one right now and from the dimensions/make they look the same. Is there any advantage in getting the new ones other than the new gfx?

Well, I don't really care about graphics, I'm skiing not modeling...

Plus the old one's cheaper and I gotta afford new GS skis too and those are expensive as fuck.

supposedly the topsheets dont chip as easily because the 05/06 PE's P-Tex topsheet chipped like mad. its still P-Tex but i guess it is better quality? thats what i heard. and i dont really know how the flex was on the 05/06's but the flex on the new ones is way dope for butters and such.

yeah you're right. dont quote me on this but i think they are the same price as the 05/06's at this time last year. its just that they're next years ski. they're more expensive right now than the 05/06's just like every single other 07 ski.

The new ones arrived at my shop yesterday, and from the feel of the topsheet I don't think it is p-tex. If it is, it feels a hell of a lot more tough anyway. The flex feels the exact same, only the graphics have changed, which are SICK - we've got the biggest 4 lengths lined up on the wall to make the big picture, so nice.

It is definitely still p-tex, but they supposedly made it more durable so it may have a different feel to it.

the 07 is better, tougher p tex, better graphics but same dimensions i think so still stable as hell and good almost anywhere.

I own the 05-06 PEs and their flex isn't really made for butters, nosepress... quite stiff, plus I'm not big (170cm,61kg). I got 174 ones. So may be the new ones have a softer flex.

Yeah if graphics, and being "hip" don't matter to you, then I would sujest going with the older ones so tou can buy your GS skis.

05-06 were stiff...very stiff...i mean, they were good for where i used them, but they werent really "fun". just sorta dead and lifeless. but yeah the ones i used, after only 2 days of hard use i had put some more chips in them...a good number of new chips.

The ones in the center, white with charcoal looking design on it. Thats the new PE.

i ordered the 05 06 ones from getboards for $200 and they sent me the 06 07's instaed! for just 200 bucks too! it was awesome

e-mail i got from K2

"The PE is an expert level all-mountain park/pipe ski model.

There is no design flaw, nor is there a materials issue. The more expensive P-tex material used on the 05/06 top-sheet is softer than traditional acrylic & urethane mix top-sheets. The harder top-sheet material dulls the edges faster, and has a higher friction quotient when the edge of the opposite ski contacts the top-sheet. The P-tex top-sheet is designed to give (be sacrificed) when whacked by the edge of the opposite ski. If it's getting gouged, it's doing its job. Our pros and testers all prefer the P-tex top-sheet, as it offers higher performance and tends not to 'blow the trick' on a rail or upon landing when the skis are crossed. Additionally, most expert level pipe and park skiers take a wide stance, and do not inadvertently cross their skis; so their edges do not often make contact with the top-sheet or sidewall.

We have had a fair number of skiers (more recreational and learning park and pipe skiers) contact us about this 'issue'. It's really a factor of education about the advantages of the P-tex material in this application and the skill level and/or technique of the skier. Sadly, there were enough 'complaints' and increased material expense that we will be returning to the more durable material in 06/07; which (fortunately) has caused a fury of expert level pipe/park rider purchases of the current model PE. We are now sold out of the coveted 05/06 model."

Suddenly I'm happy about my 05/06 purchase lol. I ride them in moguls (a narrow stance), which causes some chipping but doesn't affect performance of the ski, plus my comp. mogul skis are way to fucking narrow to ride anywhere else so these work good for all-around.
