i am looking into the new 06 07 karma and wanted to know how they are in the park...i would like to know from karma users how the handle on rails...durabiolity...edge duarbility...stiffness...pop...weight....still good to spin on and switch up on rails>?

from what ive heard its the best all around ski on the market, ive never skiied it myself sorry. but i mean if almost the entire volkl team is on karmas in the park theres a reason why

they're a mid fat ski that is great in the park and all mountain. youll be able to take them on the east coast ice bowls as well as in the pow cuz they have a good sidecut and a wood core that gives them good snap but is relatively damp at high speeds. they're durable but not as bombproof as the p.e.'s, but they also dont wiegh as much. are they up on the volkl site yet? you could prolly get specifics there

they are a wicked all around ski. A bit on the stiff side but deffinatly one of the sicker skis i have been on. They have lots of pop and are stiff enough to hold their own on fast groomers

so theyre just like the public enemies? are they at least a little lighter and flex a little more then the pe's?

they are both places, actually. Karmas are one of the only twin tips I have never purchased or ridden, but if you are looking for a "park ski" they don't seem to make a lot of sense. They are very stiff whereas most park skis are designed to have a very soft flex for rails, buttering and being forgiving on jumps. However, if you are a big guy, everyone I talk to who has ridden them says they are a fantastic one-ski quiver

i am 6''.5'' and 175lbs...i have the original chronics right now so i am used to stiffer skis...

Are you looking for a pure park only ski or an east coast one ski quiver?

Karma's would make a good one ski quiver for the east coast, also, if you like stiff, check out the Head skis. They carve up our ice like crazy and i love em in the park

like...you and mark know what ia m skiing all season...rails...jumps...and ice....

but yeh i am looking for an all-in-one ski....and i think i am getting the karmas if the price is right and if i dont hear anything bad about their edge durability from now to the ski show and past.

Demo'd them once, and they were sort of an acquired taste. At first I felt they were just another ski, but by the end of the day I didn't want to bring them back. If your heart isn't set on the graphic, get the 05/06s for less money; plus they have that cool grip tape like top finish(not that it does anything).

If you ski outta the park at all....get the karma's. I mean like really hauling ass around.

Word!! I got close to 60 FULL days on the 05/06 Karmas. I pulled them out early and kept returning back to them here in the east. No park mileage worthy to vouch for. that grip tape seems to shed the snow off.

owned a pair last year. very sick ski. i like to ski fast and push my sksi and these were very very sturdy at high speeds. in the park they werent very forgiving, but if you stomped it, it was awesome. handled great on ice and in slop. never hit any rails on them so i cant tell youhow reliable the edges are. but definately a sick ski

They are too heavy for my taste. I switched from k2 to dynastar and back to k2, then switched to line and so far the lines are the best skis I have been on. And they have a few park skis to choose from. I am sure the karma is a very solid ski, but despite it being a gravity sport, weight makes a difference. The voikls I have skied on were all to stiff for my weight and were not very responsive, but I have never been on karmas.

If you are a decent skier and weigh more than 100 lbs, weight won't matter too much. People still rip on madtrix remember.

yeah, ive been looking into these as well but so far waht ive heard is the same sort of ride as the 05 06 karmas but lighter and a little differnt construction, but i really want to get a pair, thats in my price range. I ride east coast so not a lot of pow out here but there is ice so th e sidecut should be nice. Overall sick ski. A little 2 stiff for skiing just park. If you like to hold an edge and rip down the mtn but get a siki that can hold its own in park this would be it.

last year i skied alot of park and alot of all mountain and these things rip everywhere. i did alot of rails and they were fine. but on my last day, i did a 270 to a box and my edge got destroyed and had a core shot somehow. i gave them to volkl and they gave me store credits for new skis cuz i luckily had a lil delam on my tip. they said i had alot of edge cracks but it didnt bother my skiing. the stiffness didnt bother me in park and on mountain they handled speeds soo good. next season im geting the 07 karmas because they handled everything i threw at them.

sorry, but, uh, this thread is just under a year old. And he already got the karmas at the beginning of the season....

there are alot better park skis out there like armada but the karmas would be great if you did ski out side the park alot
