04 mike nick or 05 PE

Heres my dilemma...I need new skis bad for this season. I am poor. So I never had a chance to demo any of the skis but they seem to be what I'm looking for 50%park and 50%all mountain. I can get the 2003-2004 Mike Nick Pros 171 out the door for $250 or I can get the 2005 PE 169 for $360. Just going by weight the Nicks are lighter. For those who have skied them both, whats your opinion on it? Did you like the Nicks better or the PE?

 
the old nicks are a really nice ski. but so are the pes. id say go with the lines. they are pretty similar skis.

in science class i sat down to fast and you know how you can sit on your balls. well i did and i sat down really fast and crushed them and right when i sat down i started puking and fell out of my chair. they teacher laughed. i felt like i could pass out i wanted to die.-*NWFT*nUkkA

the mike nicks are alot lighter than the pes. but it is up to you

i have the 05 pes and they are super sick skis. i definately recommend them for the extra $$

are you kidding me, the mike nick 171 ski, is the worst piece of shit i have ever riden in my life. It is a shame people think these skis are good at all, they are like skiing on noodles, they are pieces of shit. My edge is broken in like 500 places. the entire topsheet of the topsheet on the tip ripped off.

The public enemy ski is the oposite of the old mike nicks 171. They ski like a ski should, they are sooooooooooo much stiffer and overall, they ski like a harley davidson compared to a tricycle.

yah don't get lines, 2 of the 3 pairs my friends have skied have broke, one completely snapped and the other ones edge is so fucked up. K2 is one of the strongest skis out there, trust me, i beat the fuck outta mine and they will not break!

k2 for shure their skis are worth the extra money, in the quality that you gain compareing the 2 skis brand new. the k2s will end up holding up better and lasting longer, drop the extra dough!

i hightly reccomend the PE. i have the 05 PE and had a few days to ski on it at the end of last season. they kick ass. they are so nice out of the park unlike many other twins and they hold up off-piste too

Yeah, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with PE's. They are the best skis I have ever skied. They do break kinda easy but have an AMAZING warranty so its no big deal. I would go with the PE's.

everyone says PEs are heavy and they are right! but weight shouldn't be an issue unless your a really short skinny kid. just beast them! and my PEs have been taken over rocks and dirt and sticks and all this other shit and they work fine

i didn't like the mike nicks at all they suck. but line skis kick ass (except the mike nicks) get 1260's or mav's.

 
if this years pes are better than last, Id consider that, I have the nicks, and they're ok... but either way would be good really. If it were me Id pick up the nicks

well i havnt skid either , and im not much of a fan of the PEz but lines are a joke , i simply do not recommend line they have not very much goign for them at all and PE is known to be a great ski.

The Mike Nick ski has a good flex for park and softer snow applications but with the PE you will get a better skiing platform. The torsional rigidity of the Nick's cannot match that of the PE, meaning on hard snow conditions, the PE will hold an edge better and will resist twisting in a lateral motion. Triaxial braiding's bennfits at their best. Plus the PE's are a pretty solid deal at under $400.00

 
BUT, you may like the Mike Nick's better, it is all up to you and hopefully you can try out both before buying one or the other.

 
psycic skier is a knob. Two of my best friends have ridden lines AND pes, and they both think the pes aren't as good as the Lines for various reasons. Doesn't mean the pes are bad, that's just two peoples opinions that have Actually Ridden Both skis.

Seriously though, I might get ragged for this, but if you're just starting out, or beginner or whatever then both of these skis will be ok for you, one might be slightly better for You but without trying them you'll never know, but either way you can't go wrong,... so literally just pick whichever one you like the looks of more.

Iwoudlnt say that my friend... if you like a stiffer ski go for the PE if you like a soft ski then line, if you DONT care about the flex the PE is rumored to be , a much better ski x 5324234. It seems my last post was written quickly and has no opinion points in it. If you are a heavier skier and might break a ski, you shoudl go for hte PE. The PE im not sure about this, correct me if im wrong, i heard they do well in powder. Yes it does depend a lot on the type of skier you are, and if you like linesmore hten PEz its just your style , i dont even know how the PE skis im just telling you the stats so that yo ucan be more informed on your decision, i've skid some lines before... the skogens i believe , not sure the one with missiles on the bakc and are green , they're too unsupportive? it feels like they're never gunna support you. in my opinion its not how a ski should feel, but if thats your style thats cool. i imagine the PEz feel like solid firm beasts when we ski on them, a little less manouverable probably but solid feeling ( thats an imagination). SO decide doggg. What do you like flimsy and light , or firm and heavier?

the lines are a way better park ski. they arnt as durable, but line does have a good warenty, and you may end up with some chronics or new MNs if you break that pair. they are light, flickable, and generally a fun park ski. however, the side cuts on the old lines are not particularly turny (ive demoed the MNs, the pes, and have ridden old blue 1260s for 3 years). the pe has more sidecut, and is much more of an all around ski. so if park is your game, go mns. if you like ridding the whole mountain, go PE. but lines are a fun skiing ski. i have had a couple pairs of tms, and i always find myself back on my 12s for park and rails. they are great park skis, and the new ones are better all over. so i say go with the lines, cause if and when they break, you will most likely end up with chronics. and that would be a sweet deal.
