o.k. so i was wondering if this is a good twin tip ski to start twin tip sking. i've skied before and im very comfortable on greens and blues and im starting to get into blacks. im 6ft 240lbs and i was looking into the 179cm ski. note this is for the 04-05 model and i know they changed there dimensions after this model but i was wondering if i can get a new pair cheap if its worth it? i mostly like groomers but i wanted to try twin tip this year and i've heard good things on PEs being a good all around ski. so let me know what ya guys think about this ski. Thanks!

If you don't ski much more than blues, you probably won't be going into the park much, or at all. In this case, a really cheap twin to get you started would be good. Those skis should be fine. Why are you after a twin though? Just curious.

well my goal eventually is to try jumps and ski backwards. i figured that if i can find a cheap set up i can try this year and beat up on then, if i like twin tip, buy some decent stuff next year.

they would be a good ski for you to being with, their heavy, still as a boner, and chip like lead paint in a babys crib

wont 179s be a bit on the short side though?
cause im 6'4" and ride a set of 189 Seths.... of course that could be because im not in the park and im cruising on black runs or off piste powder stuff at baker.

true that, but there still a good ski, i rode P.Es for four years, they were my first real twin tip, a bit heavy but solid.

I agree, they are a good ski especially for all-mountain and a little bit of park, and since you can get em cheap, go for it. I don't think you would be too worried about weight anyway, since you're a pretty big guy and personally, i don't find PEs all that heavy. Plus the 04-05 model have the sickest ski graphics ever, imho.

that exact model was my first ski, let alone twin, and i couldnt have been more happier with them. ive still got them today, and they still bomb. yeah, the top sheet chips, but the core/bases are rock solid. I think its a great idea and i couldnt recommend them any higher.

The dimensions are a little wider for the 07/08 and 08/09(Extreme), with an 85 mm waist (04/05 has 80 mm waist, and the tip and tail are also a little narrower). Also I think the newer versions have a softer topsheet that gouges easily, whereas the 04/05 had a more brittle topsheet which was more prone to chipping. Other than that I don't know of any differences, besides graphics.

hey thanks for the info.

im just having second thoughts on the skis. i do have the money to get a new pair of 07/08 pe's and get bindings for them but the 04-05 deal i have found will still be a good amount less. my main concern is if it would just be worth it to get the 07/08 version over the 04/05. if theres not much of a difference in performance and in quality i don't see a problem getting the 04/05's. let me know what you guys think and thanks for the replys.
