When I shot with my other super 8 it ran $30 per roll for the film from pro8mm.com + shipping + digital transfer.

Oh shit, looking at that pick I see that it says "close" on the screen. Your iris is all the way closed, open the aperture to fix that, or just turn on auto exposure.

I've never shot DVX before but on the HVX there is a black button on the back kinda near the battery that switches it for recording mode to playback mode. Look for it, could very well be your solution. Good Luck!
