    Völkl sizing

I am looking to buy a pair of park skis and the only ones I’ve found readily available online in a longer length is a Völkl bash in 180. It has been over a decade since I looked at a Völkl ski but last time I did, Völkl twin tips measured around 5 cm shorter than other brands with the same...

What Hood based camp for an old man?

I have been going to High North and then Momentum for the last 8 or 9 years. I will go again this year but it looks like I will have a lot of time off this summer as I change jobs. I was thinking of hitting Hood after the Whistler glacier closes but I don't know anything about the camps there...

    Avalanche POV

Since many of you are going into the BC or aspire to, I would like to share my experience of what happens when things go wrong. Here is a POV video edit of me in an avalanche while skiing in Alaska with some lessons in the use of emergency equipment. Stay safe!

Any old farts going to ski camp this summer?

I just got back from my annual Valdez ski trip and my thoughts are now turning to park camp (especially after being slid 2000ft in a big slide). I am thinking session 3 momentum as it fits my work schedule best. Anyone else of drinking age thinking of going? Here is my TR from last year if...

    It finally happened

After 6 years of going to ski camp (High North for 3 years and Momentum for 3) and 8 sessions, I am now, for the first time the oldest camper (34). Indeed, even with Momentum running a mogul camp, I am the only "adult" (as measured by drinking age which is 19 or older in BC). Aren't there any...

    Orage Masters

I just got down off the hill after the Orage Masters and I don't know if anyone has reported it yet but Volkl won with a a great show followed close by Armada.

Official opening of Poachninja.com - Win Pow Skis

Sorry, some of the links look messed up and I don't know how to edit posts in Newschoolers. This thread has the original post on TGR and works...http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141457&highlight=poachninja

Official opening of Poachninja.com - Win Pow Skis

This summer we pre-released a non-profit site for skiers and boarders to share info on skiing in Japan called www.poachninja.com . Poachninja.com is built around a wiki-pedia type database on Japanese resorts and backcountry lines, a (non-moderated) forum for skiers and boarders to share info...

    Broken collar bone

I was skiing after 6 weeks from injury and 5 weeks from surgery. Surgery speeds up the healing process, I am told and leaves your collar bone straighter.

    Japan's season

Last year was a good season. On the north Island (Hokkaido) the base was great for opening weekend in mid nov. The main island was a bit late but January went off the hook and it went great into march but spring heated up fast and we had a week late april and early may as the base sloughed...

Are the Volkl Chopstick really that bad?

Dude, I heard they are a bit heavy for most people. How big are you and how big is your average bite? Do you like to gulp down your food quick or nibble and savour it. Do you prefer noodles or rice?

Where did you mount your ARG's?

I mounted mine on the recomended boot centre and had no tip dives and some wheelies (as is the case with rocker) so I would say a bit fwd of boot centre will do no harm.

Does anyone know where I can get sunice outerwear?

    TJ schiller ski sponsor

He is lying. It is owned by Halliburton and was set up by Dick Cheney to buy up all the influential skiers and mold the ski industry to his image. Once they are assmbled, he will have them all ski in jeans which in turn will cause all of you to start skiing in jeans. It is but a small part...

Rossi/Look turntable bindings or Jesters for my JJs +Karma!

I agree that $20 for race stock pivots is a bargain for time tested bindings. The above posters are right that they have the best retention of any binding system. That said, the duke/baron's heal issue can largely be solved by making sure the forward pressure is perfect. Make sure the screw...

Does anyone know where I can get sunice outerwear?

I like the idea of goretex that isn't tight fitting (like the mountaineering companies) and is focussed on skiing not snowboarding. Anyway, I wore sunince back when I was a kid in the 80's. Their web page doesn't list any distributors and I can't find any on-line distributors on the net. Thanks.

    TGR Step's Up

Having park segment in a largely big mountain movie helps differentiated the segments and makes the movie more interesting to watch, I think. Just big mountain would get a bit same-y after a while.

    Best adult camp?

I am 32 and have gone to High North for 3 years and Momentum last year. I would say go to a regular session as there will always be adults there anyway. Momentum's adult session is a bit funny as it is the first week and they never have all their features built (don't ask me why). Also, for...
