my 180's are mounted +1cm above the freeride point, and they ride just fine. havent been in deep powder yet, but i think they will do just fine. The skis spin great and switch is effortless.

i dont really think you need bubble wrap, but i usually just pack all of my clothes into my skibag and that provides plenty of protection.

from my experience, the k2 are stiffer and therefore better for you as far as all mountain. i havent skied the rossi's, but they sure seem to have a lot of flex
