Yeah, Jay is fucking sick. I know he's been throwing 10's for a long time, but I didn't think he'd done them in comps until this year. His cork 10's actually look damn good, too.
I could have sworn they started out at a semi-decent size, but got chopped down every time someone got hurt on them. Right now its similar size to mid-season last yea, so nothing big, and quality is meh.
That's a bad idea. Loose boots are one of the bigger causes of shin bang. Your leg can move around in the boot and actually bang against it. You also lose a ton of control over your skis. The booster straps everyone is talking about work really well because they keep your boot tight around...
Go ahead and use the same wood glue you would use on any other skis. The glue is mainly there to seal out water so your skis don't delaminate. The screws hold the bindings on whether there's glue or not.
Get something a little longer, I'm like 5'5" and I ride 176. I can still spin them fine, and I actually like jumping with a little longer ski. It doesn't slow your spin as much as you'd think. It actually kind of smooths out your spin.
UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethelene) is the surface used by most resorts for boxes and works amazingly well because of its high wear resistance and low coeficient of friction. It can be expensive, but it depends how and where you buy it. I use it for slide gloves for longboarding...
Agreed, that movie was horrible. It was like, "I'm gonna talk about a line that I just skied in about fifteen seconds for the next five minutes" I saw it, it doesn't need an explanation.
