    JUST GOT TBC!!!

That's funny. I've been hearing the opposite mostly. I can't really say though, since I havn't seen War yet. I've seen TBC a bunch and I'm still liking it.

Teddybear Crisis and War Premier in Tahoe, Oct. 29th

Yeah, that is a bit of a misnomer, should really be called a "Screening" but it's just a figure of speech now. Anyhow, "premieres" are fun parties where you get to watch a dope movie and hang out with other skiers. Worth it usually even if you already own the DVD.

    New video cam

If it's $500 then you're looking for something used that has a lot of controls and 3chips, or new you will only get a 1chip point and shoot equivalent. The little Sony's are decent, and make sure you buy another battery and a wide angle lens.

    What camera to get??

Yeah that was meant as a joke about getting sucked into the photography thing and jonesing for every little gadget and piece of gear until your spending every dime on it. I used to pack a lot of gear on shoots that I never used. Right now I can get by just fine with: One body. 70-200 2.8...

You should take a look at this lens instead of either of those: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=351542&is=USA&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation Canon 10mm-22mm f3.5 It's not one of their pro lenses, but it's designed for the digital SLR cameras...

Was it a mistake to order my movies from D-Structure?

TBC shipped on the 17th and 18th from Ally's Portland OR warehouse. That's why the 20th was listed as in stores for the US. I can't speak for Canada, as they have their own distributors.

Primedia is in some Deep Shit.

This isn't anything new. Transworld snowboarding has been bought and sold more times than anyone can even keep track of. Powder has been bought and sold a few times too, I believe. Even if Primedia falls apart completely, chances are that the magazines will continue on if they are profitable or...

    Gl2 or vx2100

The VX2000 is sharper than the GL2 which in my opinion has a "muddy" picture. Be aware though that with more HD coming out all these cameras are becoming obsolete.

    What camera to get??

Canon. Better lenses for sports. The rest of it depends on your budget. The digital rebel is decent if you're on a budget, but for a few dollars more you can get the EOS 20D which is dope. For a whole lotta dollars more you can get a $7500 (body only) EOS 1DS mark II which will shoot sequences...

    New video cam

If it's just shooting your friends to watch at home, and you're not an aspiring filmmaker, then get any old DV camera that's small and affordable. Get a screw on wide angle lens for it and you'll be stoked. If you're serious about filming and have an edit system and all that, then you'll be...

    Bought one what?

    Hi def cameras

Really? GL2 footage always seemed a bit muddy to me. I much prefer the look of 24P footage shot on a Panasonic. Then again what do I know, I have a Sony FX1 that I almost never shoot HD with since all the clients still want 4:3 DV.

    Hi def cameras

The Sony FX1 uses HDV which is compressed (most HD formats have some compression) and isn't that big really if you capture it as HDV native on Final Cut Pro. http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/finalcutpro/

    Hi def cameras

RETARTED? Retarded perhaps, but there is no HD DVD player out there for consumer purchase that has any comercial titles released for it. There is one machine without any real support, and it's basically playing back WMV files just like a computer. Speaking of which, you can edit HDV and burn it...

    Video cameras

Unless you're going to get the Panasonic AGV100 and shoot 24P, there aren't a lot of cameras that will make your "video look sick". Better quality cameras will give you better quality results, but you gotta pay for it. 3chip DV cameras with manual controls and the knowledge of how to use them...

    What ski movies to get

    Teddybear, Shanghai 6, Whiteshine, TGR

    Shanghai 6 in HIGH DEFINITION?

FanFreakingTastic! ALL DVDs are compressed. The question is how well are they compressed. Ski footage is really hard to get good compression and still get a good picture because there's so much changing in the picture and there're lots of subtle even tones in the snow.

    Shanghai 6 in HIGH DEFINITION?

You can encode and make a hi def DVD right now, but the catch is that it will only play back on a Mac G5. You can also encode for WMV HD and deliver it as a file to be played out of the computer and through an HD monitor/projector. Next year there will be HD players available in the US & EU...
