The VX2000 is sharper than the GL2 which in my opinion has a "muddy" picture. Be aware though that with more HD coming out all these cameras are becoming obsolete.

Really? GL2 footage always seemed a bit muddy to me. I much prefer the look of 24P footage shot on a Panasonic. Then again what do I know, I have a Sony FX1 that I almost never shoot HD with since all the clients still want 4:3 DV.

Unless you're going to get the Panasonic AGV100 and shoot 24P, there aren't a lot of cameras that will make your "video look sick". Better quality cameras will give you better quality results, but you gotta pay for it. 3chip DV cameras with manual controls and the knowledge of how to use them...

FanFreakingTastic! ALL DVDs are compressed. The question is how well are they compressed. Ski footage is really hard to get good compression and still get a good picture because there's so much changing in the picture and there're lots of subtle even tones in the snow.

You can encode and make a hi def DVD right now, but the catch is that it will only play back on a Mac G5. You can also encode for WMV HD and deliver it as a file to be played out of the computer and through an HD monitor/projector. Next year there will be HD players available in the US & EU...
