^Youre an idiot. You wait till the iron smokes, then turn it down until it doesnt smoke anymore. This isnt rocket science, and its quite tough to MELT ptex. Even a flame takes time to melt it. Go cheap, i use my moms old iron, and have NEVER had a problem. >>> Matty

Been posted many times... Go to goodwill or any type of second hand store. Irons there are about $2. Try to get one without holes, but if there arent any, no big deal. The only objective of the iron is to get the wax melted so that your base can absorb it. >>> Matty
