d40 d40x and d60 arn't very good, no af motor is a bummer, d70 and d80 are good as far as nikon goes, most canons are good, if you can buy a 30d/20d/40d over the rebel series do that

looks like dust or dead pixels, go to your camera shop and ask them to clean your sensor
