Indoor Ski Resort being built 20 mins. from my house

aren't flights to Europe really cheap from the east coast???? Spend your money on real snow and real mountains.

I'm Heading to Europe at the end of January '08..

A lot of good advice here. I'll add two things: 1. definitely watch the weather, the snow can be fantastic in Austria and crap in France. Pay attention and chase the storms. 2. There are tons of very small areas, some of which, like La Grave (1 main lift) have insane big-mountain terrain...

    WHO DOES THIS?!

    BIG MTN NAME CHANGE!

Oh, well, if you hate the new name, go ski Turner Mountain instead. OOps, Turner got fucked up, too with that newfangled chairlift replacing the t-bar. GOD! what the hell were they thinking?

    Powder Mountain SLC UTAH

Mellow terrain and empty, with some fun tree skiing. Slow lifts (unless they've replaced them since my visit, which was a while ago). Probably worth a couple of days max, unless it's dumping, then you can ski down to the road and catch a shuttle bus back up, allowing for tons of fresh tracks...

Cristy's is the worst shop know to man

This is about the fifth or sixth time I've heard of Christy's fucking up a mount. And that means that there are plenty of other times that they fucked up that none of us have heard about. I'd say give any front range shop a wide berth and head up to a specialty shop at a ski area where they do a...

    Monarch Pass Cat Skiing

Like the man says, you need snow. Both times I've skied it, it was wind blown pow. It would have been better to ditch the cat and hike into the backcountry off the pass. I also thought the guides were super-conservative. Well, they have to be, I suppose, but on one trip it we had three...

Anyone skied on the new Atomic Pimps of Thugs yet?

He's right. I thought I'd really like the Thug, but the ski is much more sluggish than other fats. It would probably be great in pow, if that's all you ski. For what it is worth, I ski the Scott P4 (in a 191) and the Line Prophet 100. Both - at least for me - are much more fun than the Thug...

    Good Shops In Vail???

Really? Hmmm. And you didn't mention Ski Base in Lionshead as a good shop. It is the only NEW SCHOOL shop in Vail. Every other shop you mention is for tourists. . . And then you say that the Red Lion is a good bar???! It's packed with tourists, it's a tourist bar. They never host bands, but...

    FUCK the ICER AIR

Dave, I completely disagree. Events like this can, and should be held to a higher standard. When people -that many people - show up and they see a poorly executed event, with a complete lack of safety standards it is inexcusable. The ramifications are huge: sponsors' risk managers scream bloody...

    Who started skiing on skiboards?

Classic! But I don't know if I would ever admit to snowlerblading. Thank God I never have done it. You guys are brave to 'fess up!

Skiing in North Carolina this saturday

The story about that place is posted at www.freeskier.com, along with a web photo of their conditions. You can compare and constrast North Carolina with another shot of Copper Mountain, which opens Friday. I think I like Copper's chances a lot better, but that's just me. . .

ICER Air, WHO should I INTERVIEW?

As the highly professional journalist you are, I suggest that you consider doing more than one interview. Obvously interview whoever wins, and then use your own refined judgement about who the other people you want to talk to are. Or just go get drunk in the red light district with some hookers...

Enough snow for jumps in the passes

Berthoud and Vail passes are your best bets. Go high! I skied off the top of Copper last Friday and the snow was great up top, rocky down low. Good luck.

    Colorado Opening Dates

Not that it matters, and I certainly won't be there for opening day, but Keystone just announced that it is opening one week early. If that makes your day, check out freeskier.com for more info. The story just posted. Thanks for putting up this info.

    Ski magazines and their distribution

hahaha! unless it's PUKING at Baker. But I guess we can forgive ya'll if you blow off stuffing envelopes to ski pow!

    Freeze-freeskier

I'm always surprised when people claim that Freeze was doing so well, but the mag went out of business. Seems like if it was doing so well, it would be still in business? I guess I'm just confused about how business works. The better you do, and the more money you make, the less likely you are...

Most snowfall in a single season?

Baker has the record. If you don't believe me google it and you can look up the weather stats from the US Forest Service, which runs monitoring stations throughout America. There's a similar Canadian entity that does the same. Pretty accurate stuff. Didn't Freeskier run these stats in one of...

    Midgets and skiboards...

Simply THE BEST!!!!!! True comedy and I'm so happy that finally skiing will be for everyone. Does Line still make skiboards? Could they be the title sponsor of this event? You're gonna make millions! hahahahahaaa!
