Someone needs to make a new ski

Err, the "O" in Stoeckli is actually an umlaut in German- an O with two dots above it, which I do not know how to reproduce on my computer. The common method of putting that into english is to write "oe", which is how StOEckli do it on their english web page. http://www.stoeckli.ch/index_en.html

Someone needs to make a new ski

I am going to reiterate the stoeckli twins. Karmas, prohets etc are stiff but if you really want racing construction I can't think of another twin that is like the Stoeckli Snakes (at least the BC, which I own). First off, Stoeckli is a race ski company and the only one to supply their race...

    Din din din

serious question for those who were techs. Does it matter what you plan to do? At the extreme, if you were racing and any expected fall would be at high speed and thus involve quick, high torque vs. if you were planning on only sliding rails, which would involve slow twisting fallls would your...

There may be 20 (or more) better skiiers. The point is, for marketing, are there 20 more recognisable names?

    The coming Japanese invasion

What Japan does have in its favour is long winter seasons, tons of parks, indoor parks in the summer and water ramps all over the place. They also have a very strong mogul circuit to source talent. That said, snowboarding is pretty dominant here so freeskiing is a bit behind (it is starting...

Which came first, Sony or Nintendo?

Nintendo had at least 2 generations of game systems before sony entered. First there was the NES, then the SNES both before the PS. Around the same time the main competitor was Sega but they stopped making consoles after the dream cast and focussed on games, stand up arcades and, in Japan...

    Terrorism- WHAT THE FUCK???

Its no shittier than before. When I was younger I used to worry about getting nuked by the Russians. Regan was scaring us about an "Evil Empire" and pouring trillions into making an outerspace defence shield (and I thought it was the Evil Empire that was to have built the deathstar). Just as...

What's Anthony Boronowski like in person??

I don't know him well but I have hung out with him this year and last at HN and I am close friends with someone he went to highschool with. He is reserved at first, probably shy and quite self deprecating. Based on my camp experiences, I get the feeling he can be quite moody. I am willing to...

    How long do we have?

One more thing though. I went to HN for the past two years and, at the age of 30 and holding down a job as an investment banker, I took a LOT of teasing about going to "ski camp" from my colleagues. I must look even older to the kids in the camp as one of the girls told me I was the "coolest...

    How long do we have?

I am 30 going on 31 and just started newschooling a year and a bit ago. As you get older, you tend to take less risk and don't quite recover from injuries as fast but you can still keep hitting the park and have fun.

"natural" leg fwd for sliding rails question

I am relatively new to sliding rails etc. When I first started, I didn't know which side was "natural" so I picked right leg fwd and went with it. Having recently been on a skateboard for the first time, however, I find it a LOT easier to ride left foot fwd. Does this suggest my "natural"...

    Check this indoor ski slope

We have indoor parks all over Japan, with real snow. Click on "park and institution" for the features. The kickers, wall and half pipe are constant but they mix up the rails. The one I posted is closest to where I live (central Tokyo) and is small. There are bigger ones in the outlying...

    JF Cusson making comeback

I have never posted here, being a TGR man myself, and I can't see if there is a search funtion on this forum so this may be old news, but I read that Cusson has been seen water-ramping for his comeback next season. You guys probably more interesested than the TGR boys. Here is the link...
