They are not open all year, just until the snow stays. Also, they do not make any snow, so they are one of the last to open, usually november or later.

Now that I live in Aspen, I would say Buttermilk because I love the park. But when I lived in Denver, I would definitely say Vail because of sheer size and variety. But the lines suck on a crowded day, and we never get lines in Aspen.

I agree with whatever feels comfortable. Some say nose heigth, and others head high. Mine come right above the tops of my ears. I ride a 176, it feels comfortable to me even though I am on the tall side, but agreed that longer skis look better, especially since it is harder to ride them.
