Hilarious that the top 10 included the wrong deadkind edit, wrong Delorme edit, arguably the wrong candide edit. Still, sick trip down memory lane, thanks for putting this on

"...all have resounding meaning for me." That is exactly it. The NS team and the rest of the user base have decided that the above edits all have resounding meaning to them. Yes, they might not include women in the edits, but these are edits that are overwhelmingly popular among the NS member base.

Someone else mentioned that the edits you refer for female recognition are all relatively recent. This is partially true (not to say there haven't been women absolutely throwing down for the last two decades cuz we all know they have been), but women's skiing is in a renaissance NOW. We are seeing larger groups of women skiing park, freeride, freestyle, and pushing it hard. Skiing streets, sending dubbs, etc. Progression is slow, and we had years of Taylor (shit even throwback to Sarah Burke pushing it) laying the groundwork so the new young guns like Audrey and Bella can push the sport/style of women's skiing today. Idk dude, I am stoked to see the progression of women's skiing today because it finally seems like they pushed past a lot of plateaus that were holding them back for the last 10ish years (style, skills, support, and representation). Also, let's not get into the fact that the top women's skiers can typically spend more time modeling, doing media pieces, vlogging, and influencing and get paid way more than skiing and dropping an edit. Just look at the last Olympics. Alex Hall wins slopestyle, right? And drops banger edits and is CORE af. All the man does is ski; it is his life. Then you have Eileen Gu, who wins gold, but hasn't even posted about skiing in over 2 months? She isn't filming edits, she isn't skiing, she is being an influencer (which I mean like go make your bread because we all know skiing doesn't pay jack)...idk dude seems like we shouldn't be looking at NS as the issue in the industry.

Is NS filled with a shit ton of privileged white males that love skiing and being misogynistic dicks? Yes. Is the staff at NS inherently sexist assholes for not including a women's edit from the last 10-15 years of ski edits highlight reel? No.

This competition felt a little like a circle jerk by a bunch of 30 year old former high school football stars reminiscing on their best plays.

Don't get me wrong, I listened to Ratata and Biggie, had a double XL tall-t, and loved watching the JOSS edit. But I was 13. Show that edit to a 13 year old these days who is hyped on skiing and I doubt it would resonate. Show the same kid One of Those Days and you'd be picking their jaw off the floor. The best edit of all time should be timeless.

All of this is to say: I am just mad PORK FRAT: THE EDIT wasn't on this list.

The problem is entirely that the NS editorial staff put up only men. Putting the onus of rectifying a corporation's systemic misogyny on the unpaid members is ridiculous.

I've said this a bunch of different ways throughout these comments, but I'm literally not mad at the voters. I'm not mad at the community. I'm mad that the people who get paid to run this site, making a decision that affirms they do not believe a single woman has produced or skied in an edit that can contend with the men on this site.
