Still can't believe yall decided not to include a single vote option with skiing or production by a woman ? . But I get it. Yall just judge on technical prowess. It's spin to win, creativity and expression just aren't as important as how many dubs someone did In 2011.

The point is that NS really said "let's make a contest in which every single edit ever on this site is eligible. Let's determine who qualifies without a clear criteria to explain what qualifies them. And let's only pick men".

Wouldn't that be tokenism? To include a woman's edit for the sake of having one in here? This is just my opinion, but I don't think any of the edits you mentioned could justifiably be in that list. If they were here, they would be for the wrong reasons. Taylor's realski was sick but TBH, she's able to throwdown harder than she did in that edit and I remember feeling a bit underwhelmed. [tag=253327]@Traffic_Cone[/tag] Katrina is a legend. She used to put out weekly edits back in the day. But still, nothing that ought to make this list IMO.

When they're all put together in a single video the cinematography in Simple. makes the rest look silly. Certainly wins the prize of best ski edit out of that lot.

I don't see how this contest had anything to do about gender yet you decided to make it about gender. If there was an all-female edit that had the same notoriety/amount of views then it could have made the list.

@jumpsoverrails tokenism is the exploitation of marginalized people to placate calls for equity and justify systems of oppression. It wouldn't be tokenism if NS actually invested (financially and culturally) in equity in snowsports, or if they demonstrated that their palate for ski media isnt based on a criteria that favors men at this time. But they won't do either of those things, based on their past actions (and lack thereof). So would it be tokenism for them to disingenuously include a woman's edit when we know that they all believe (as proven by this contest) that women can't and don't produce media as well as men? Kind of, yeah. But I still think even that would be a lot better than nothing at all.

@jumpsoverrails furthermore, who are you to decide what qualifies as one of the best edits? And who are the NS staff? We don't know how they chose, because they didn't publish a system or criteria for selection, they obviously just kicked around a list of edits they like over beers or something. And newschoolers has been dead silent on this, but I would be willing to bet money that there weren't any women in that discussion.
I've been an NSer for more than a decade. I don't remember anything about clownschool. I'm not very impressed by the edit. But Taylor's edit, or Bella's Superunknowm, or Jyosei, all have resounding meaning for me.

I didn't make it about gender, NS did when they decided, with no indication of a criteria, that the best ski edits of all time are only allowed to be made by men.

Also, there literally are women's edits with more views and notoriety than those on this list. But if those two things are the actual criteria, then where's candides audi commercial? Where's Ski Lines, and Imagination, and all the random faction edits?

I'm not implying anything. They published it. They chose the selection that we got to vote from. They didn't even nominate a single woman. Objectively, they did not allow women an opportunity to be voted for.

How are you defining notoriety? Numerous edits I've already named have more overall views than some of the selections in this competition
