if your ever in bc i know of 2 super knarly quad kinks u could film. no one knows about them sept me and some other dudes. then i could have a camio in your movie. ooooo do it come here right now. i have my own protable drop in a nd everything.
That os such bullshit saying that TGR doesn't make progressive movies. Sage's part in High life was the most progressive part I saw this year. He was spinning unnatural everywhere including off some big cliffs. And he made his tricks off of cliffs look super tight. Kreitlers part was sweet too. Not too many people doing what he is doing. And Next year Skogens part is going to be super tight and I Bet Sage will put up and ever better part. I saw Forward and personally I thought it sucked. I watched it once and gave it back to my friend. It was all rails and shitty park stuff. Who cares that stuff is boring to watch for a whole movie.
and for the record high life was so rediculously bad. The editing was pure shit and i am not sure if that was their intent (to under edit it completley) or what. It was painful to see and i know they can do better, they have in the past for sure.
ya that comment about skiing not having a deep enough talent pool is bullshit, I see riders killing it who arent even sponsored, kids doing switch nine mutes with more stryle then half of the 'featured' athletes in the movies. you gotta look, and that super unknown contest wasa great idea but the problem is alot of these riders spend so much time they arent even on the computer to have time to put together a movie. Keep progressing, and your number scheme makes totaly sence now, I didnt even relize
I liked some parts of Forward, but it had alot of sections there were real lame. looks like High Five is gonna be sick though. nice interview. and TGR movies dont suck
hey two plank. before you talk shit about the editing in any TGR flick why don't you look at the shit you are involved with first. The editing for the two plank trailer is about the choppiest editing i've ever seen.
lets face it. Most ski movies suck. Especially MSP. If you have seen focused, you probally fell a sleep. Its mostly turn after turn of what seems like the same mountain over and over again. There are so many lame voice overs that take away from the skiing itself. You never get to settle in, because, everyone is talking like, ohh he is so intense, he is so focused, this is life and death, get used to it because if he tweaks his grabs any harder, he could break his skis or even... die. Its so serious, you feel like your hangin with some racer fags. and the intro what the fuck? It starts off in new york and someone is talking about all this spirtual shit. Its ridiculous. The money should go to skiing not footage of new yorkers walking and eating hotdogs. There is no soul or story behind this movie. ohh yeah the music also is very lame. Lets listen to spanish rap, and alternative rock soul. Call over skyler, and Thad and we can watch this movie, drink someone power supplement, and then go have a race, intense.
Hopefully small guerilla filmers like Berman will break way from the mold of the ski movie industry, and we see ski movies of equal comparison to some of the snowboard movies out there, like robotfood.
I love Berman's movies, the jibbing and park is amazing. I mostly don't really like TGR becasue so many of the segmetns are 3 clips long, there just isn't much flow to most of the movie.
For everybody out there that doesn't like the big mountain footage, just try and imagine what it's actually like skiing a 3000ft face in Alaska. Sure it may look like turn after turn, but the balls, mental strength, and skills of guys who can rip Alaska are unparrelled. A lot of people on this site have probably never stood atop a 50 or 60 degree run, and so they can't really understand what its like and the risks involved, but also the massive adrenaline rush that comes with a huge line.
Yeah, there are really good unsponsored and unrecognized riders out there. You wanna know why they are such? Because a) They're probably pricks. They think that they should be on top of the industry and that they are soooo good. This makes anyone a pain in the ass to work with OR b) They haven't moved out of the Midwest.
Oh yeah, Kreitler's segment sucked ass. He's talking like he was the originator of big mountain-newschool when he can't come into a jump without snowplowing to set his spin like a racer brat trying to do a 3.
i love level 1. best company ever. strike 3 was probably my favorite movie of all. only because berman had(or so it seemed) soooo much footy of so many previously unheard of riders throwing down ridiculous shit. so original, and the soundtrack killed it. forward was obviously off the hook, not just the riding, but amazingly edited. big ups to that. i love the way berman edits his shit.
