Due to the bad snow year last year, we at NS along with various other forms of online ski media have found it increasingly difficult to secure a substantial amount of ad revenue over the course of this season.
Normally this would mean for less major event coverage and new bells and whistles for the site, but fortunately with the help and support of a parent company behind us, we have been able to maintain these things as in our and many others’ minds they are what makes NS great.
However due to the low amount of ad revenue we have unfortunately had to make the difficult decision of changing certain aspects of the way Newschoolers.com is run. Over the course of the next few months we will take the time to discuss some of these new details at length via the forums and the news, but the first and most major change that will go into action is that beginning June 1st, we will be charging a monthly fee of $9.95 USD for usage of the site.
We understand that many of you will be upset and angered by this and please allow us to be the first to say that we are not in love with the idea ourselves, but after the terrible season last year it is an essential decision we have had to make in order to be able to continue running a successful and profitable business. We want NS to be the best it can possibly be and after spending long hours trying to come up with a solution as to how we can make that a reality, we have come to the conclusion that without this added revenue it would be next to impossible to meet those goals.
Rest assured that in exchange for your generosity and understanding, we will be adding new and exciting features to the site that will make the monthly fee more than worth it. Plus, with this season being much better than last, there is a strong possibility that we will be abolishing the monthly fee as early as September if we can acquire an adequate amount of advertising revenue over the course of the summer.
