Shane has been an idol of mine since I knew what skiing was about, back when High Society was the new movie and Saucerboy was the inspiration for many neon-clad evenings. To a friend I never met, I toast and salute you. You will be forever missed, but never forgotten. RIP.

What? I didn't even believe it when I saw that. It doesn't seem real. Shane was one of the first pro skiers I ever knew about and ever idolized. Rest in Peace. I will miss you.
