putting freeskiing in the olympics is a mistake. This awesome homegrown sport will turn corporate getting popular sponsors that are not related to skiing, and then soon after that the best will be getting agents. Look at what what happened to snowboarding. For example, PRE-TORINO OLYMPICS (2006)---Shaun White was not in commericials showing off products that have no relevance to snowboarding and there were no photoshoots with fellow riders such as gretchen bliler. POST-TORINO OLYMPICS--- Shaun White is now known for his air to everyone out of snowboarding, he has an agent, and his own flavor of stride gum while Gretchen Bliler is to busy in photoshoots rather then on the mountain.
OLYMPICS WILL TURN THIS AWESOME SPORT CORPORATE, AFTER 2014 FREESKIING WILL NOT BE THE SAME!
I say the Olympics is going to do to skiing what it did to snowboarding. I don't think that is actually a bad thing either. I think its just going to create a bigger devide between athletes that want to compete, and those that don't. Your gonna see film sluts, and comp sluts.
Riders who will be purly technical, and riders who will be pure style. I think this is great because park skiing is starting to look a lot like figure skating to be. Honestly......do we really need to go beyond quad corks?
I think too many people hate skiers to give a rats ass whether or not we have simon dumont or tanner hall on a gum package. Skiing is too original to get out of hand. Just have faith in the sport guys.
