    Thoughts on UV filter

Are you a working professional? I shoot for a living and shoot around 8-10k photos a week. I shoot a lot of action sports and weddings. Both put a lot of demand on my gear. What makes you an expert? Back to the topic....I agree if he's shooting with basic gear, probably won't notice the...

Is the nikon d40 worth the money

Megapixels are not a big deal. 8.2 is plenty. When you pack more megapixels onto a low end sensor (like the junk CCD sensor the d40x uses) you will get bad noise above 800 ISO. I'll take a quality CMOS sensor at 8.2mp anyday. I have blown up photos up 24x36 that I shot with my first digital...

Is the nikon d40 worth the money

Pick up a used Canon 20D for 500 and it will kick the crap out of a XT/XT/ d40/d40x/d50.

    Downloading photoshop CS3

Depends on the quality of the pirated software you downloaded. If its cracked good enough, you should just need the serial #. If it isn't, you have to activate it and Adobe will probably not activate it.

    Slave/ wireless flashes

Alien bees are heavy for doing location shots. Plus you need to be close to a powersource so you can plug them in. Just not practical for sports shooting.

    Thoughts on Nikon d40

For those hating on the Canon's XT build quality..... Skip the XT and just buy a used 20D. Those are really great camera's and feel amazing in your hands. You can find them for 450-500 bucks and it will blow away any of the cheapo DSLR's. In response to the technology bit....Having Canon's...

What kind of lens do you use for ski photography?

speaking of batteries. I have found the ones off of ebay to be just as good as the Canon brand ones. They are a lot cheaper too.

    Image stabilization in canon

oh man thats ghetto, i'm sure it will come over to Canon soon. HSM is really nice to have, the non-HSM Lens is still good, just not as quick when it comes to AF

    Sequences

Do all your whitebalance and color corrections in a batch with either Adobe lightroom or Adobe Bridge. That will keep your colors the same across all the photos. Then like they said, just layer and mask. Its a pretty easy thing to do once you figure it out. As far as actually shooting the...

    Image stabilization in canon

Take a look at the sigma 24-70 2.8 EX. You can find them used for around 350-400. I actually have one as a backup to my canon 24-70L. EX is sigma's "pro" line and optically its a pretty compariable to the canon. The Autofocus is accurate, but not as fast and silent as the Canon's USM type...

What kind of lens do you use for ski photography?

Your spot on. I actually started shooting with the old Original Digital Reble (300d) and it worked just fine down to about -20 to -30F. The trick really is to bring at least 3 batteries. 1 for use in your camera and 2 to keep in a pocket thats close to your body. In the cold the batteries...
