ya i was gonna say that you popped too early. then just work on pullin your legs up, more each time, until you get a safety grab. Especially for spins with more rotations make sure to keep looking over the shoulder that you are spinning with (so your left). Looking down i think is just personal preference i will look down some times.
 
turn your shoulders into it and youll spin fater and tuck up abit but other wise siiickness
 
another thing is try to but in a small safety grab it will look nicer and it will help you progress in grabs
