So my zune broke, they do not work well after a thorough wash and rinse cycle. Anyways im lookin for a new mp3 player and im in between an 8gb zune, or one of the new 8 gb ipod nanos. Just wondering wut people think about each and any suggestions that might help me choose would be appreciated. and also wondering if you can turn off that new shake to shuffle songs feature on the new ipod. thanks guys

idkl i personally love ipods

and i hav had 2 freinds that got refunds for their zunes to get ipods cuz the battery life sucked

but watever holds your music haha

the new ipod nano is pretty amazing, somes new features like the flipping screen and the ''shake to shuffle'' is pretty nice. Battery is on warranty like everything except the appearance (cover and the lense)

my bro bought a zune 120go and get refund the days after because the zune broke. i went with him and he get a new ipod nano 8go for 170 tax in. the old (nano 3rd gen) was still 179 before tx.... pretty amazing and ipod is one of the best shit i used when riding down the slope

ipod for sure. The zunes are very unrelyable. I got one thinking it could be kind of fun. I returned it in a week or so. The menus it has are quite confusing and has a really round about way of getting to where you what to get. you also can't use any music that you buy off of itunes.

Yes, a ten year trend that just keeps growing.

yOu can turn the shuffle thing off, those options are just that, options. I dont know anything about zunes, cause I think theyre just another knockoff, but if you like the interface, why not?

The new ipods are pretty small, and still pretty far above anything else that is out there.

just my 2 cents.

i have a 60gb ipod video in black and its given me no problems so i would go with that if you have a decent sized library

get a 16gb nano if you have the extra cash. If you're using it for skiing get the nano over the classic as the original ipod stores its memory differently and doesnt like to be shook around or be in the cold. My gen 2 8gb nano is still running just as well as the day I bought it and I have done 200-250 days skiing with it. Hate it or not I-pod and Itunes is the easiest most intuitive system for managing your music. Plus with Itunes you can get some pretty cool podcasts.

exact same for me, i have the 60 gb and ive only used like 20 gbs with 3000 songs 7 movies and 2 shows

thanks for all the help, more posts are greatly welcomed im still undecided but i think im leaning towards the new ipods. Anybody whos got one have any input for me?

i got a creative zen and love it. i got the 4gb and its kinda small so i'd get one with much more memory but check out creative's line of products. battery life is unreal and its unbelievably easy to use. just check it out i think you'd might like it as an alternative to zune's and ipods.

I bought an 8gb zune. I got it a couple months ago when I found a pretty good discount from officemax for 119.99. I like it and would buy it again. Now the stock earphones sorta suck, so I would get some better ones if you do get the zune. The screen is nice and doesn't smudge and scratch because of the glass (a design I really like). It has really nice color to it and can turn horizontally for video. I like how the touchpad scroll system works (nice and fluid).

The only thing that is weird is sometimes if you turn it off and leave it for a day or two, you'll come back and the battery will be drained. It's like it was playing the whole time. Strange bug that I have noticed. It doesn't seem to do it if you turn it on and use it a little bit every 12+ hours or so. I also really wish the zune played avi and maybe regular mpeg video (only plays wmv and mp4). Not sure what the ipods can play though.

I don't use the stores though. But if you buy songs online I think that would be your best route to research. Look at both itunes and the zune store and see which one you like best and base it off that maybe.
