Zippo on an Airplane

So i just bought a zippo today, but im currently in florida, and i was wondering if I'm allowed to bring this with me on the plane, either in my checked luggage or carry-on. I'm pretty sure that I heard it was cool to keep in your carry-on, but when the bag is scanned, will they search through my stuff or make a big deal about it?
 
Hmmm, if there isnt any fluid in it it should be fine. A few times flying I forgot I had a zippo or matches in my pants pocket until I landed
 
i would say check it but they go through all of you shit. they will probably confiscate it. they take anything liquid too i guess.
mailing would be the best option
 
You cant bring it on the plane with you or your carry on. Put it in your checked bag and you should be fine. I tucked mine in my ski boots and had no problem.
 
just go to the TSA website for all that saftey regulation bullshit. i do know zippos can be empty in your checked luggage though but not in carry on.
 
Checked - Fine
Carry on - Technically since a few years ago you can't carry matches or lighters with you on the plane, but I do it all the time by accident and no one has ever said anything to me about it.
If it doesn't have fluid in it I bet it doesn't even count as a lighter.
 
they don't care if you check it, wouldn't carry on though

you can check sketchy ass knives and shit, a zippo is fine. besides there's not enough liquid in it to be illegal
 
they dont go threw your checked baggage. they scan it obviously and x-ray or whatever other stuff but they dont physically do anything
 
actually the last time i went on vacation to florida, i packed my suitcase with my clothes folded nice and neat. by the time i opened it when we got back to the condo, all my clothes looked like they were just dumped into it. they took my shaving cream and toothpaste so that really pissed me off.
 
coming back to school after christmas this year my ski bag was STUFFED full and i watched the lady behind the counter unzip it and all my shit fell on the floor except for my skis. i was so mad
 
actually tsa doesnt care about bics at least. last time i flew out of jackson i had one and put it in my shoe before i sent it through and a tsa just took it out of my shoe but placed it back in the bin in plane sight. not sure about zippos though.
 
Put it in your checked luggage. But honestly it's different at every airport. I flew out of CVG with a bic in my pocket and they didn't say anything. They saw it in the little tray and everything. On my way back through Long Beach they took that shit from me like it was a bomb.
 
I'm on a layover in dc right now and I have bic in my pocket. Idk if that's the same as a zippo, but if it is, I just put it in that bin with my shoes and laptop.
