Your thoughts, on becomming a professional skier

I think it'd be sick to have a well paying job that allows you ski a lot and make money at the same time. It'd be almost impossible to find a job like that but it would combine a bit of the free roaming lifestyle of skiing with the stability of a steady job and income.

Very Very VERy VERY VERY True. well well well said. I mean it kinda makes me sad seeing kids these days go out and think they are guna be a pro skiing park. your not, you gotta ski. I bet if you ask almost all pro skiers they have a background in some kind of structural skiing, such as racing, or moguls. You need to be able to ski. And why does everyone want to be pro so so so bad. Becoming a professional usually happens to the people who just want to progress themselves and have so so so much funb. Not the people who want to not do shit but ski. You gotta have passion and a grat spirit, because if you don't you'll get shot down very very very quickly. Just go out and ski, become a great skier, then try to break into the industry by competing. That is how i have seen it done and the most logical way to get noticed. But if you are too focused on money and becoming famous and professional. I doubt it will happen, unless you are just very naturally talented, but then usually great athletes are pretty modest in the beginning, and they just wanna have fun and act like they do not know how good they really are, which i believe is the best mentality.

wow these are some long responses that I'm way to lazy to read but basically I'd love to, most people here probably would, but it's not a terribly realistic goal considering how many people wanna be pro and how many can be. I'd rather make my own ski company, then I can sponsor some kids and that makes more opportunities for other people to be pros and I'd still get a lot of sweet ass skiing benefits.

what better than to get paid to do what you love to do!!!!! im sure they dont wake up every morning and think " damn, i gotta go ski again today. wtf. another hard day in meetings and at the office".

Listen to Andy Ski companies are stingy they make alot of money and give fuck all the the Athletes the only way to make alot of money is too Win heaps and heaps of comps and to invest the money, Or do as steele and tanner and Matt Sterbenz are doing, start a ski company, start a film company or like mike nick start a clothing company and coinside it with your skiing then your promoting your skiing while expanding your company.

alot of you guys fail to realie that most of these pro skiers are attending university of colleges while still skiing...either taking night courses or summer courses...(with obvious exceptions like tanner hall and jacob wester)...

i think it would be cool to be able to be in mags and vids and still be in school and making some money. i wouldnt mind that at all...

and another thing...you cant just say "yeh i think im gonna be a pro skier" and expect something to actually happen...you need to work intensly at it and go to ever comp you can find. and do well...and even then it isnt garunteed at all if you are going to actually make it into the pro "circuit"...

yeah like what danny kass did with grenade gloves. he now has something to fall back on and alot his friends like sketchy D, zach leach and the other grenade people have jobs

id love to be one, but i dont have the mtn and the amount of time on the snow to improve to a level to seriosuly compete at, on the other hand pro whitewater kayaker, o yess
