Tangent but Today some kid on the lift with 1000 skis and 0 swag said that seeing a 12 year old hike a tube "pissed him the fuck off" and that he was going to "deck him" on the way down and it was the first time me and my homies ever actually screamed at someone in public. I guess he was upset because the literal 10 foot milly tube was a part of his "line" and the kid hiking it was killing his flow or some whack shit. Got me super heated, fuck gaper hate bro nothing is cornier than gatekeeping park skiing ??

Man that boy with 1000 skis has parents that make like 200,000 dollars a year ??

I've literally never seen a non-sponsored skier on 1000s who wasn't aggressively mid and swagless

If anyone sees a grom who slammed on any run, whether it be a park lap or a groomer or whatever, just take the time out of your day to help them click-back in. Get them stoked and get them back skiing again!

So down with this. Helped two youngsters today when they biffed and lost gear. Also, had a gentleman ski up to me and tell me he’s been watching me ski all year and wanted to tell me he thought I was good. Additionally, made friends with an older couple and they said I should meet their son in law and gave me his contact info. Is skiing suddenly social and kind again?

Looking up to the big homies in the park will always be an awesome thing. One day you are the big homies and you gotta give the kids some time of day.

I definitely wanna see your adopted son in the next edit

I always help kids I see from the lift having a super rough time on terrain above their abilities. Just sitting on the side of the run, board or skis off their feet. I check on them on my way down; most are just starting on blue runs and got left behind by the friends they were skiing with when they froze up. I ask them their favorite skier or snowboarder, hype them up on having the courage to try a tough trail and ask if they want me to get patrol or show them the easiest line down the trail. Most of the time they want to ski out and we snowplow down the entire run until they're on a familiar trail.

One of my favorite homies to ski with is 12 possibly 13 now I believe been skiing with him for a few years kids a super sick skier too. Always love seeing all little homies having fun on the hill

Some 9 year old at copper a few years ago was hiking trying to learn front 4s on this tube I was hiking when I was trying to learn sw lip b4. He called me a pussy when I couldn't get a front 4 lmao. He was a funny dude and a ripper

I got that feeling in 2010. There was a young ski instructor wanted to learn park but was too shy to step into it. A group of us took him into the park but nothing was really happening. I suggested to him he stand under the steepest tranny jump and offered to 180 over him. A couple shots later, we couldnt pull him out of the park.

I taught a 40 year ski instructor his first 360s. He became so addicted to park, he opened his own park coaching services a decade later after working in freestyle skiing.

Now Ive been mentoring people in the backcountry. My strength is making people feel confortable in no fall zones, encouraging them to huck and building jumps to gain air awareness. Theres the uphill componant too; how to be fast and fit at the top of a long line.

They have fought me on everything but once they see the way, they become the funnest competition!

This makes me want to bring the Jeffs and fuck around in the park all day. HOlson hype.

Also, I’ve literally never seen a pair of 1000 skis at Stevens Pass nor Mission Ridge.

@clinttoz has some and he skis baker and sometimes snoqualmie other than him I dont think anybody else skis them

Hell yeah this is how we keep skiing semi cool, and decimate Dope snow/Montec culture. If we don’t teach the kids, the internet will, and they’re gonna have to learn everything the hard way and hav some really painfully cringe moment they are forced to look back on. Good job OP. Always have some time to show groms the way. they also might have hot older sisters.

I always stop and ask. I helped a little girl recently at keystone who double ejected in the middle of a busy run. Her mom was very thankful.

last time I was at Ruby hill (last year), I helped a guy learn kinked rails. He was so stoked. It’s fun to help people.

Skiing needs more of everything in this thread. Shitting on people learning new things anywhere on the mountain is the wackest thing you can do

Had been kinda worried at my local because a new younger group hadn’t really emerged since the most recent one. Now they finally are and I’ve made a point to try to help them with tricks

Shoutout the homie Jesse who skied with me when I was young getting into park as he was actually good and a couple years older. Great times were had and I was def inspired and became better because of it.

Skiing with younger kids is awesome, inspires more than you can even know, just gotta remember to not be (too much of) a horrible influence. I skied with a younger homie at bridger a couple of weeks ago who was just stoked he was there and able to ski with me, made me feel good.

I've been doing a bunch of stiffy 180s on small and medium jumps this year and my roommate HATES them. Whenever I do them in front of ski school kids she yells at me for being a bad influence

exception for dope snow wearers tho?

was at the opposite end of this during middle and early high school, would always ski with the local college kids who'd give me rides to and from the mountain. 90% of the time I would ski solo 7 days a week unless it was with my college buddies

I saw one at Stevens this year
