not in really in to metal but slayer and lordie are pretty much all the metal i listen to.I'd rather listen to prog like apc and tool
 
If you're into progressive metal you should definitely check out Opeth. In my opinion, the technicality and heaviness of their music blows Tool away...and they have crazy acoustic stuff too. Of course I would never say that Tool is a bad band at all because they're one of my favorites, but I don't think they're on the same level as Opeth.
 
Christian rock is the worst thing ever invented. You're taking music that's traditionally been based in fornication, drug use, and general bad-assery and attaching the image of Christ on it, since it happens to be a stylsh genre of music. It perverts Metal and it perverts Christ. You can have one or the other, not both. I love these kids that list off bands

I agree with expression but leave your morals at the door if you're entering the sacred dominion of METAL.

IMO, Rush is the best band ever but they are not metal. Their earlier stuff was Progressive Rock, their 80s stuff was Synth Rock, and their new stuff is hard rock.

My favorite metal bands would be Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath
