This is kinda in reaction to a lot of posts lately talking about how newschool is kinda goin mainstream, and they have made me think about some shit like who I ride with. A few years ago I just used to ride with one other buddy everyweekend and then we had some friends at our home mountain who we would meet up with and ride with from time to time. Then like 2 years ago we picked up another kid and he is cool shit and we kinda got a pretty good vibe goin with the 3 of us pushing eachother. Now this year it seems like everyweekend there is another pud coming up to the hill with us and i keep having to not answer phone calls from kids I grew up with cause I just want to go ride...I don't want to hang out with like 10 idiots who talk a huge game and kill the vibe by slowing down the day and never shutting up. Anyway I'm not sure if anyone else has this kinda shit goin on but i just had to get it off of my chest and maybe it has nothing to do with the growing popularity of the sport, but if it does I liked it better before it blew up

 
I've had something like that happen to me. My girlfriend's friends. I got up and ski w/ my core crew of friends, probably about 4-5 of us on a normal weekend. Then my girl's friends want to meet up with us. The lift lines are crazy long and they want us to wait after we get off the lift. Skiing is not a social event, I just want to go skiing. Then all her friends are like, ''Is he mad at me, he didn't say anything when we met up''....luckily my girl knows what a freak about skiing I am and lets me go ski

Interesting. Yeah, I can relate to what you're talking about. It's hard to push yourself when you have to wait for people who suck. People who suck AND talk about how 'sick' this is gonna be and how 'hot' that is gonna be just drain the vibe.

Skiing with a couple people is cool. Once the group gets too big things get slow, boring, and pretty lame. Skiing by myself has always helped me, because I don't have talk to other people about bullshit. I can just rap with myself inside my head. It helps me push myself.

Anyways, tell those toolbaskets you don't know very well to suck a hard one and get it together.

I have no problem skiing w/ people who aren't as good as I am. In fact I love skiing w/ people who are better than me. It pushes me and hopefully skiing w/ me will push them as well. Its the fact that the mtn. has turned into a social event where it's cool to be seen up there. I would rather never be seen because the only time I'm in view is on the lift, otherwise I'm in the woods.

i dont have a crew yet, but i will soon. i am new to the newschool but i race and i can ski really fast. once i get my steeese down i will have more people to ski with.

but yeah- really hate people that take a half hour gettin their gear all 'set' on top of the mt- poles, boots, goggles- etc... my biggest peave

you guys are lucky as hell. I only get to ski a few weekends a year and a week at a time if im lucky. None of my friends really know how to ski and none at all could even jump or do rails or anything. It just feels so much harder to progress when you're all by yourself and nobody's pushing you and watchin and stuff. Skiing with people who do the same stuff is so much more fun.

yea i love skiin wit other people, esp if they are the same ability as me. i ski wit two of my best friends every time i go, and then we meet up with about 5 other kids if we are goin to creek. the vibe is so good when your wit a crew that can all throw down about the same

I dont care if they are better or worse then me, as long as they like skiing and dont talkin that just are posing around, sittin on their ass. If that happen I just ride by myself, I am interested in skiing, not sitting on the ground and waiting for people..

i ride with 2 guys, one who snowboards, the other skis and we just go out and kill it. lately one of my friends cousins came down and is now living with them. the guy just picked up skis and even though teh first few days he slowed us down now hes almost up to par. this guys got balls and i never mind riding with anyone like that. on his 3rd day on skis this kid was doing fuckin 3s already, totally hucked, but still a 3.

i usually ski with one other kid, sometimes two or three. the problem is i'm 15, and sometimes i ski with this 11 or 12 year old kid who's pretty good, and he likes to throw down and stuff, but he brings these shitty kids that are like his age and have like 5 pairs of twins but they dont clear or evne hit jumps fast... thats annoying as hell

 
there asre 3 crews of good people at our hill. theres the ILIAGA crew, (Me, and 3-4 snowboarders from school), the ohio fesstyle crew, which consist of a bunch of skiers and a few boarders. anyone who knows of them, they know that they all suck. jk. and then therese some snowboard crew who all rock pink hats. anyway, we always ride together, and its sick when you get 2 or 3 crews there at once, and have massive sessions. i love skiing with them. its sick.

i ski by myself and it sucks. 90% of good skiers in australia are cocky racer fuckwits, so there aren't many people left over. i usually go to aspen in late jan (gonna be there in 10 days) but it's hard to meet people as a foreigner.

when i did ski with my cousins a few years back (who are sick) i skied so much better. it helps heaps when you're with others who are better than you.

 
i find that i flow around better when im by myself listening to music or with 1 other friend

i hate it when their is like 15 people tho, everyone going fast and skiing close to you, u can't just pop a 180 because ur scared to get run over or hit

that stuff sucks
