just messing around with my dads new t2i

i am perfectly aware of what HDR is.

its also the worst thing to happen to photography this decade.

i think hdr is pretty cool, but shopped photos never ever ever top a single exposure. i was disgusted to find that the photos placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the Smithsonian photo contest were HDR. HDR has it's place, but a single exposure takes 1000 times more skill and will impress me infinitely more everytime

i took baby pictures... i'm so ashamed

just to add my two-cents to the discussion.... I think the zion HDR isn't too brutal but at the same time, one of the key components in a good photo is the balance of light and shadow, of white highlights and deep dark low lights. With HDR, you are essentially removing this crucial interplay of light and dark in favor of underexposed highlights and overexposed shadows. It can look cool, but for the most part the colors end up oversaturated and the exposures both above and below what is appropriate. It will have a place in photography and to disregard it entirely is being a bit elitist, but for me, I try to stay away from it and generally dislike its effects. As they say, to each their own.

lol way to take it personally. take whatever photos you want, i was just putting in my 2 cents that i really dont like HDR

despite the recent hate on HDR i thought id give it a try, kinda my first one, would have liked the shadows on the bottom of the car to be lighter but it got blotchy when i tried to do it

in that case i would go to lightroom and turn down the exposure a tiny bit and up the contrast using tones and curves for a darker subject (more silouette) that's just my opinion though.

i should start learning processing... but i seem hesitant to distort the realness of the original shot.. maybe im just weird.

anyways, a few more...
