Yoga Improves Skiing?

With it being fall, I think it's about time to start training my body to be in top condition for when ski season hits. In addition to doing squats, biking, stretching and all of that - I was curious if anyone has done yoga and experienced good benefits for skiing from it? I know it would improve flexibility but I was wondering if there are any significant benefits between it and regular stretching.

Any yogis out there?

A lot of yoga tends to help to create muscle stability and core strength which is pretty essential in skiing

Balance is balance, anything that helps strengthen your stabilizing muscles is gonna benefit your skiing. I don't know that you'd notice much of a difference unless you went from off the couch to yoga god tho. Rail balance is a lot of muscle memory.

Yoga helps a lot. Strength, stability, and balance get better, and I can't express how much it changes balancing on rails and putting power on the ski.You could reduce injuries a lot too. It may seem kinda wack but it helps. It also makes you feel good. Give it a try.

Its a good addition to a proper weight training program, but wont help a lot if you dont have pre-existing mobility/stability issues.

It will help, sure, but putting more effort into getting brutally strong in the weight room will help one helluva lot more.

Im getting back from a couple rough injuries and Ive been lifting a lot but Im trying to get into yoga to get even stronger.

it definitely helps a ton with preventing injuries by allowing you to become more flexible and tighten up the core...

i think i noticed it most by helping prevent injuries to my groin and hip flexors

not to mention just learn to breathe and meditate goes such a long way in other areas of your life
