I will start this short story by saying that my parents have recently purchased a brand new 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse. For anyone who is not familar with this car, you can check this link for a picture of the car:

http://www.luxurymotors.com/inventory_detailed.php?id=90043&nhs=0&make=Mitsubishi&model=&ext_color=&stockno=&eyear=&syear=&eprice=&sprice=&keywords=&location=&type=New&rtd=&mileage=&ob=&desc=&t=2006+MITSUBISHI+ECLIPSE

But anyway, on with the story. So I just get my G2 drivers liscense 9 days ago, (meaning I can drive by myself). Although I am only 16, my parents are nice enough to let me take this car out for the night with a bunch of my good friends.

After watching a movie at the local theature, the 3 drivers arrange to meet at one location in the parking lot to drive home together. Me and my next door neighbour pull out at the same time and head down the parking lot with me leading the way. I have 2 people in my car, and he has none in his 96' lumina. As a stop sign approaches, a small group of kids run in front of my car. As I am not travelling too fast, I slowly brake allowing the teens to cross the road. As I come to a complete stop, I am rear ended very hard from the back. WHAT A TOOL!

At this point I am in total shock. I hear screams from the girl in my back seat, and I myself am panicing. As I exit my car to take a look at the damage, I am horrified by the result. By back bumper is hanging off the back of my car by one screw. My very large back bumper piece is basically detatched and on the ground. (As you may have seen from the pictures, the back bumper on this car is gigantic) At this pointim thinking; I AM FUCKED, My insurance will KILL me and its not even my fault. Unfortuantely a police cruiser was near by to view the accident and notify the insurance company on the damage. perfect! After exiting my vehicle, I went to a near by curb, put my head down, and immediately start to cry.

This crying proceeded until a tow truck came and said that since there is over $1,000 damage to my car, he must tow it away. In a fit of rage of the tow truckers nonsense, I tell him where to go and what to do when he gets there, and make it clear he will not touch my car until I say so. The police crusier pulls up and asks for my lisence and insurance Heres the kicker. I dont even have a lisence with a picture on it yet! All I have is a tempoary which is a full piece of paper saying I can drive a car. That sure impressed the cop. But I get some news which is both good and bad. I find out I am "not at fault" for the accident. But my buddy might get charged for the incident. I eneded up driving the car home with the bumper hanging out the hatch and dealing with my parents when I got home. Luckily my mom was loaded at the time, which lets things cool down for a bit until this morning. Police said on a car this new, and rare, replacing the back bumper may cost up to $4,000 ! Surprisingly my bumper was not in bad condition but will still need to be replaced. Because of this I figured my friends car shouldn't be badly damaged at all. Turns out I was way off. Both headlights broke, The grill is dented in, Hood is crumpled, his front bumper got wrenched, and there is mino engine damage. Wow, he hit me hard, and Wow this bumper just exorbed everything.

His parents are pyscos, so there will be some interesting conversations in the next few days about this incident. I can only hope that the back bumper is the only thing damaged, and my insurance will go easy on me. We will have to see.

This is the worst night that does not involve a death in the fmaily I have ever experianced. And I didn't do anything wrong. This sucks, and its 4 am so I'm going to bed. But this was a real eye opener. So now you can sleep easy knowing that your life is good compared to mine. Enjoy.

good story, and you're right, i always feel better about myself hearing other peoples' ownage.

Just tell your insurance company all the details and they will deal with it... I'm sure your parents are on top of it, anyway. If you weren't at fault, you probably won't get in trouble with anyone. The police report backs you up.

I know a person that got into an accident at 16 and his insurance went to over $5,000 a year on a 1993 sedan. Thats why I am panicing because there is a 'no fault" insurance system.

the new eclipse looks like the nissan 350 z. But yea, you shouldn't really be too screwed. Yes your insurance will go up, but since it wasnt your fault it will be ok.

wow u are such a little bitch. first, YOU GOT REARENDED moron. its not your fault. your insurance only goes up drastically if you are at fault. and u were crying crying over ur fender being fucked up after a lil accident in the mall parking lot? and its not a big deal if you dont have you actual liscence. the piece of paper=liscence. if it didnt they wouldnt give it to you and tell you you can drive. you dont sound like you're mature enough to be driving. stop being a pussybitch.

exactly. if you werent at fault AND the cop saw your buddy hit you, you should be completely in the clear. your buddy is fucked but i seriously dont think your insurance is gonna care too much. if its your friends fault then his insurance company will be the ones paying for the damage to your eclipse. so unless your leaving something out of this story i dont see why you should be worrying at all. your friend on the other hand will be getting owned by his insurance co.

hes being a little bitch. his insurance will surely cover it. and it wont rise too much. i rear ended an off duty cop from another town, and it was totally my fault, and it wasnt bad. there was like $2500 of damage to my car, but all i had to pay was like a $350 copay because insurance paid for the whole thing. lets try to keep the crying under control... its not the end of the world

hah same thing happened. my friend sam rammed my friend joels car backing out and it dented the door and the window shattered in my face beacuse i was in joels passenger seat. well sams back end of his rodeo was also fucked. we were out at this kids party like 15 miles away from any of our houses and it was at like 2 AM. joel was freaking out. so we put the glass shards in a plastic bag and then staged the accident at the kids house we were "sleeping" at. we said it happened in the morning. sams dad paid for it. insurance got it all. so it all worked out. you wont have to pay anything. its the same sitation.

Man the insurance might trip you up, cause if you just got your G2 your not supposed to be driving with more than one person under 19

id advise you to never cry or say it was your fault if you're EVER in an accident, even if it was, because the other guy will tell the insurance company that and you'll get the boot in the ass.

I was crying because I realized that everything I have ever worked for since I was 10 years old just crumpled with my bumper. Looks like damage will be around 4,000 and i dunno if were going through insurance. You try and suck it up when you loose your life savings when something is entirely not your fault.

to you i bet it seemed like you stopped right, but to the guy behind you i bet he says you braked hard and fast, which would be the case since thats a fast car and you just got your lisence

a fucking 16 year old should not be driving a brand new sports car at night without ny fucking adults, i got my permit the day i turned 16, i have to wait another month, i probalyt have a 500 more driving hours then you do but you have a license and a 06 car. dont make sense

no, your grammer and sentences dont make sense. hes 16. he doesnt have a car yet. his parents do. they let him drive it. what else was there for him to drive?

fuck "driving hours". its all the same shit anyways. after you drive on all areas for like 5 hours things arent going to "change up on you". no new variables. 500 hours of pointlessness. if hes a bad driver, he still will be after the 500 hrs.

stop complaining. and you said the F word so many times i cant understand you anymore at all. but just calm down. im sure whereever you live and you dont have a licence, its the same situation with everyone else your age.

its simple, a 16 year old should not be driving a 270hp couple at night with no adults, when i get my license i will not be able to drive after 11pm bymyself until im 18, look at it from my point of view, its frustrating

yes, and i pity you.

im 17 and have my own 99 jeep cherokee. my friend chris is 17 and has an audi TT. my friend jeremy-A6. and my freind rob- G35. when hes drunk/high, i get to drive it.

yes im bragging.

^exactly what he said

dont worry about it, you arent at fault and wont have to pay for anything

the other kid's insurance will go up and yours will stay relatively the same

trust me i know cause this shit happened to me too, it really isnt that big of a deal

I want a g35 super bad. I like the looks of the g35, but it bugs me that the 350z is faster. I wish the car with the better looks had the tuned setup. damn you nissan.

I've decided that I really don't like you...please stop talking about money, cars, and hick kids that you scoff at...if thats all you know then you need to get out and live a real life

okay...i take it back...i got worked up...youre a good person, I just don't like hearing people bragg about things they bought with unearned money
