Yamaha R3 vs Ninja 300

anyone owned or ridden the ninja or r3? Looking for some firsthand reviews on these bikes. Or would should I just send it to a 400.

I've been looking at the same thing, never ridden either though. From my understanding the R3 is a bit more powerful but it's really only going to matter if you're racing against other small bikes and there's a big straight. They're both small bikes. The N300 is a well understood platform with a huge following and the price may be dropping since the 400 exists now. I went and sat on both. They're pretty similar feeling.

In my opinion Yamaha's are better.

Do you weigh like 8 pounds and have no muscle? Why get such a tiny bike?

I don't ride bikes at all but aren't these good beginner bikes? Like he shouldn't be buying some super bike right out of the gate, thats how you die.

dont listen to anybody who says "why u thinking about getting such a small bike". i have a 300 and 600cc track bikes in an r3 and a zx-6r and i lap people on my 'little' 300. On an R3, you'll develop a skill set and get everything out of the bike. I would also recommend, if you're responsible enough, to start on a middle weight upright like fz-07 (which i did) , ktm 790 duke or a Z650. These bikes are immensely fun because you can wheelie the hell out of them, upkeep like oil changes are much easier than a bike with fairings.

Im in high school lol I got my whole life to get a 600+. I want a smaller more forgivable bike that will let me learn the fundamentals. "Its better to ride a slow bike fast, then a fast bike slow"

Thanks for the reply, thats exactly why I want a 300, I really want to learn the fundamentals. I looked at the FZ-07 but the price is way to steep. ATGATT is the only way to go for me too.
