XL jump tips

So this is pretty much my first season skiing in quite some time (tried skiing when i was 7, then snowboarded for many years and switched back to skiing about a year ago only to get a few months in), I'm a fairly strong skiier out of the park and can do all the runs at my mountain with ease. I'm able to hit some rails and 90% of boxes/flat top rails as well as smaller sized jumps.

I'm having trouble just nutting up and commiting to the XL jumps (40"-50" tall from ground to lip), partly because I'm clueless on what to do once you commit to the jump, worst possible outcome would be to land back seat or over shoot, those thoughts are stopping me from just hitting it.

If anyone could spare a couple of tips and tricks on how to just straight air without destroying yourself i would appreciate it.

Just follow someone in to get the speed right and do some shiftys in the air to stay balanced

ah of course, forgot about that speed check trick.. what about your posture and and arms?? should i pop a little before i leave the lip or just let the speed do the work?

then turn your skis left or right depending on the direction you feel most comfortable to stop from losing your balance

you mean like twist left or right halfway in the air after popping and go 90* (left or right) and turn again to land facing forward?

50ft lip? i hope you have good life insurance, your will prepared, coffin ready and a hole ready for your body

skier feet hahahaha. But if it is only your first legit season skiing and you've only hit small jumps, maybe you should work your way up before you go and hit a 50 foot jump.....

LOL thank you.. And to the people wondering i didn't go measure it myself, my mountain has a website with all the terrain park info.

Fuck everyone here is retarded. That size of a jump is reasonable. 40" 50"...... Last time I checked " signified inches and ' signified feet

doesn't make any sense.... but if your scared to hit the jump then just follow someone in to get the speed right, pop, and the biggest thing is to just stay relaxed and not tense up. also its important to not let the jump set you a backwards(causing to land backseat)

dammit hahaha. Well on the bright side you'll save yourself a couple thousand bucks considering its barely 5ft high off the ground.

Run up to it with the right amount of speed (watch people go before you), pop at the lip with your weight ever so slightly forward, don't freak out in the air, stomp it. Honestly, just send it, if you have any sort of natural air sense then you'll be fine.
