Xgames Slopestyle at night

I remember some years ago when slopestyle was under lights (I think it was practice not the event).

Would you rather see slope during the night or day. Big air seems to have huge hype under the lights. Discuss

It would be a lot harder for them to get the lighting correct.

Agreed that the hype level would be high but i can't imagine a night slope run would produce the sickest runs

There was a snowboard comp for a few years maybe 08-10 that was at night as well. Can't remember what it was called though.

Slopestyle under the lights at X Games was one of my favorite years. Its seems like it would be advantageous for the guys since theres no possibility for flat light. Cloudy night skies are still black. It has to be an absolute bear to set up and tear down though. I'm guessing the extra cost of setup, equipment and manpower don't offset the viewership gains from the time slot.

They also need something in the day. There aren't as many event in winter X. Big air and superpipe have been the big nightime ones.

I remember an interview with Tanner where he said he liked the night contests because it allowed him to sneak off into the woods and light up a fatty between runs. So that's something to think about.

This is also true. Going back to back ski slope with SB superpipe following in the sunday primetime slot would be awesome for ratings
