Xbox Red ring

as I understand it, that means something is fucked and could be many things. if you can diagnose the problem then yes, you may be able to fix it. A friend had that happen, figured out it was a couple of wires that had melted, replaced them with new wires and it worked... but it's definitely not going to be easy. Search google, I'm sure there are many people who've been through this posting online about it.

If you're technically capable you can open it up and unscrew the x-clamps and put new ones on. But if you have a warranty still you probably don't wanna do that.

I just got the red ring the other day and I am sending it back to get fixed. has anyone ever done this or knows how long it will take?

I had the equivalent of this happen to my PS3 over the summer.
Is it just me, or are these stupid fucking companies making extremely poor quality products? judging on how many people have to send them back and all...

i actually got out my snes today cause i couldnt play xbox ha. The thing still works great. earthworm jim, real fun.

this might sound crazy but when i got them my friend put a bag of frozen peas on top wrapped in a blanket and about an hour later it was good to go. still running great. i was like wtf the whole time but hey it worked

Mine got the E74 error. I sent it to get it fixed. It took exactly a week from when I left the post office to when I picked it up.

and if it didn't work, you would just blow air into the game cartridge.

i am almost certain that everyone decided to start producing shitty stuff these days so that consumers have to buy more. my old cell phone (those nokias shaped like a brick) was epic. we would throw it off 2nd story balconies, play hockey with it, throw it at walls. it would always work. it finally broke when we did the running over it with a car test because i was getting a new phone anyways.

now these bitch ass cell phones break if you talk on them in a strong breeze.

I had way to many problems recently with my 360, but since my warranty is voided (chipped xbox), I had to repair it myself...
I first fixed a RROD by doing the penny trick wich worked perfectly (youtube it)... After this, my 360 got a new problem, everytime my xbox runned for more than 5 MINUTES, the screen would freeze with white shaking lines...
I solved this myslef by removing the center screws inside the xbox... Wich made a bit more space for the xbox to "breathe"... After thoses 2 solved, I got the 2 red lights of death... Tired, I had to re-open my xbox again...
After some research I found that it was also a overheating problem... So I changed the glue that microsoft had put on the ram chips (where I glued the pennies to fix the RROD, but I did'nt add any glue at that time, used the one thats was already in the xbox)... I removed the original glue to put some regular glue (with a heatgun) under the duct-tapped pennies...
1 months and half as passed and still no problems yet! Hope I helped someone.

fml.. all i was doin was just seshin some cod campaign and i get a freeze.. next thing i know i got the red rings.. any ideas? is it overheating?

Yeah it happened to me three times. I send it to the company and it took only 2-3 weeks and i got 1 month of xbox live ( it's cool if you 're not already in like me)

But the last time , I was with my friend and we change the hard drive or something like i don't know how to say it and I did when my xbox was on and it did the red circle ( but not the full one ) so i jsut had to close it reput my hard drive and restart it. I was like damn again it's the third time and my friend say maybe it's just the hard drive and it worked. Hope it's your case.

my friend fixed his himself but i wouldent recommend it if you have no idea what your doing.

Either send it in wate 3 weeks or look up how to fix it on google
