Xbox One or PS4

Usually I've been a big time Xbox fanboy. But it just seems that Microsoft is coming across as such a bunch of pieces of shit.

- no backward compatibility with games, I guess cause of new OS n shit.

- cant transfer Xbox live purchases

- cant use old controllers or headsets and the new headsets use this funky port. Ms did this to gain control over the headset market.

- mainly focused on multimedia--I buy systems primarily for games. Don't care about gay gimmicky shit like kinect.

Ps4 looks powerful as fuck, it'll have call of duty, they have free online subscription.

I'm in a nerdy dilemma

What're u gonna pick?

i will get a ps4 when the slim comes out and they improve the hardware and lower the price, and i might get an "xbox one" (even though that came out in 2001) if the halo 5 campaign is at least 3 hours longer than halo 4 was, but for now i will stick with the ps3 and pc.

Im gonna say that Microsoft is dropping the ball. I get that the future is coming, and that the internet will rule all......but to be honest im still watching DVDs, im still using my laptop for internet, and my X-box 360 for gaming.

The future is integration, and i get that but nobody is ready for it yet. I want to buy a gaming system to play games, and nothing else. Im already looking at PS4's games and to be honest im gonna go that route this time. If i want a multimidia device I would get a tablet....not this.

xbox doesn't really deduct from my time outside. i think thats just a popular stereotype about gaming.

in fact, sometimes i stay home and game a bit instead of partying with friends so i can be productive and study the next day without a hangover.

The controllers will make a big difference in choosing which console is for me i.e. I hated the PS3 controller and loved the 360 controller. I assume the graphics will be pretty even but the online community for xbox with games like the COD is much better with a significantly higher number of people playing Xbox. 360 has rights to Halo and Gears of War so thats a bonus and also it will play blue ray which in my opinion was the main reason people preferred PS3 as opposed to the 360. I still don't understand the reason for hard copies of games when they've had the ability to download games for quite some time. Maybe Xbox One will have the option to download 360 games for free or cheap. Either one will be awesome but I think I will stick to Xbox, not to mention that's what all of my friends play. P.S. I hated the wii as did most serious gamers which is sad because the Nintendo 64 was ground breaking and I still play Mario Cart and Super Smash Brothers and NFL Blitz was fun. Anyways, my two cents

But seriously, I don't get video game hate. Why does it make you so much more special that you don't play video games and do more outdoorsy shit? I logged in 100+ days on skis this year and I log in hours of fallout.

pretty weak argument, get with the times, do you carry a flip phone and a digital camera? Many people are using a single device for tv, movies, internet and games and have been for about a decade.

We really need to step past the console bullshit and quit pretending it's not just some locked down PC in a fancy case.

i don't have either one right now and I only play pc games rarely, I'd consider buying whatever console my friends have...it would be nice to do PS4 so there is no stupid monthly online fee. I like the idea of the xbox media center dual OS concept.

With these multi-console games like GTA V and Fifa 14, the online experience is still going to be huge on 360 compared to the Xbox One. I'll probably end up buying the One, once the 360 is completely phased out and games of interest to me like GTA, Fifa and Forza have newer releases solely on the newer consoles.

You could make the tallest floppiest handheld game console by sticking everything from the 32X and up in the Sega Nomad.

right dude, like id rather be outside, hiking, swimming, tramping, kayaking, and doin hoodrat shit on a nice summer day. but if its raining ill do some hardcore gaming.

hell yeah I end every one of my days like that.

as a matter of fact I worked, went golfing for 4 hours after work, then came home and gamed it up hard for an hour and half....looks like I have to life.

as for the topic of the thread....Xbox One....I'm excited, it'll be cool as fuck, so will the PS4...anyone who is coming out saying how one will flat out suck is all based on a press conference....wait till you get to play on the Xbox One or the PS4...they will blow all our minds...remember how sick the 360 and ps3 were on release? It'll be the same thing.

Think I'm gonna list my 360 on eBay. I hope 360 games are cheap to download on the Xbox one.

Also what's the deal with the subsidized cost if you subscribe to live for 2 years? Sort of odd. Is it like a cell phone contract?

might go with ps4 on this one maybe won't get either for a while though, not sure how ps does their "slim" thing

going with whatever controller has a better feel seems like it could do it too

+ ps4 will have free online right?...

yeah im gonna have to go with nature seeing as im broked and partake in hippie activities which are never video games ( i dont think)

So it will be $500 for the Xbox one, or 300$ but you pay $15 a month after that for live. If you're like me, all you play is live, so you'll get the cheap one, which actually isn't a bad deal.

Pretty fucking pumped. Not stoked to sell my 360 tomorrow and be gamless 5-6 months. Oh we'll, I don't game during the summer anyways..

I always thought kinect is gay, but if it can read your heart rate, maybe they can use it to develop a controller that's like an m16, so you point at you screen. That'd make COD unfuckingreal

yea seriously. most people who know me dont know me as a gamer, i do a lot of skiing, mountain biking, sailing, hanging out in electricity-less canada houses, even camping, yet ive got like 500 hours in battlefield 3. its just a hobby that i enjoy alot

Well looks like the ps4 will support my $300 gaming headset, so chances are ill get one of those is MS decides to fuck headset owners.

Not really, as I said....in my post I'm not against integration, I'm just saying that the market that the X-box one targets isn't into it. I also said that if I was going to get an "all in one device" it surly isn't going to be a giant black box that I can't even bring around with me or touch, or is even compatible with anything that isn't from software that doesn't come from Microsoft.

I'm gonna rock a tablet for that..... because that's where the future lies. The problem isn't integration, the problem is this is probably going to be the last system for everybody. The medium is about to die, so why not just focus it on what it does well..... play games. If Microsoft was really about moving into the future, well it would of integrated everything into a smart tv and sold that, not just half ass dip the toe into the pond.

The problem I have is that this is a dying medium and if this is going to be the last system I buy in my life I would love them to focus on gaming, and the gaming experience instead of trying to claw out and try use these gimmicks to stay alive. I don't care about x-box TV, I don't care about smart glass, and I really don't could care less about social media.

I just want sit down, turn my x-box on and play some awesome games. Not to mention the limits they put on indie developpers ( which if there was ONE thing that could save their ass it would be independant games). I just think that sony knows that this could be their swan song, and are really trying to focus on the games.

Because the focus isn't purely on games, or gaming itself. Its getting too fratured, divided. From the lack of independent developpment support, to games available at release, to trying to get the casual gamer in.

Its going to not be the greatest console of all time because the effort just isn't there. The PS4 is going to be better because Sony knows that this is the last shot they will have at getting it right. You just look at the stats of the console, the list of games available at launch and the developper support ( indie or not) and you can tell that this is a much more focused platform then the X-Box.

I get that we don't have systems in our hands, and we know nothing until we do but I can just look at the numbers, the press conference, and the way the system is organised and see that they are just making this system to try and save the X-Box brand by pushing a focus on entertainment as a whole and not just games ( which is a cow that just can't be milked by the concole market).
