Xbox 360 vs PS3

So ive had an xbox for about a year now, ive already had to warrenty it once because of red ring of death, and it just did it again, so here i am starting the whole shipping bullshit again.
went to futureshop and decided id pick up a cheap arcade model on my visa and then return it when my xbox came back. 30 day return policy.
MOTHERFUCKER comes out of the box red ring of death.
anyways now im considering buying a used ps3 at eb games or something. or i could return the xbox and just wait
but i wanted thoughts on PS3 VS XBOX, anything i would miss or gain switching... i dont know a whole lot about the consoles. I do play xbox live and know there is a ps3 equivalent.

Everybody with and xbox will say its better and everyone with a ps3 will say its better. Since i own neither (but my friends own one or the other), i believe ps3 is better. Ring of death sucks, and there isnt anything besides halo and shit that is better on the 360. I personally prefer ps3 gameplay and graphics. I'm sure ill get yelled at for this but w/e.
 
i own both counsels and i personally think that the x box is better. its got funner games and a better online.
 
Yeahh RRoD is absolute bullshit. The numbers are something like 65% of all xbox owners will at one point have to deal with it.

I would have said 360 all day just a few months ago. But you can't deny the drop in price the ps3 just announced. If you're planning on just playing the mainstream games and can get over the god awful controller the ps3 has I'd say just get that.

The only reasons for a 360 these days are Xbox live, the controller, and the fact everyone has them. If you don't download demos and 3rd party games and such you don't need xbl. I can never give up the 360 controller though. It's pretty much near perfect and I feel like a retard every time I use a ps3 one.
 
yeah man, now that the ps3 is only 299 i would say its well worth it. playing online is definitely different and not as good as xbox in my opinion but overall i like the playstation more. plus its a blueray player too which is fucking awesome.
 
I own both and say the PS3 by far has better bang for the buck, free online game play, built in WI FI, so you dont have to pay 100$ for the xbox adapter, blu ray as well
 
xbox is better right now, only reason to really buy a ps3 is for the ps3 exclusive games, but there arent many yet. i think in a couple years ps3 is gonna be better, its more capable and the playstation exclusive games have been and will still be better. than xbox's
 
the thing that made me buy the ps3 was the free online gameplay and the built in blu ray player.

this. and the ps3 slim came out last week with double the memory of the old ps3 for 300 bucks. still free online play and its epic i bought it the other day. i used to play 360 and switched to ps3. imo ps3 is better
 
I say PS3 is way better(I own both systems so no bias). Blu-ray player, free online, better media playback, and Uncharted 2 are all the reason why to buy.
 
i will try to make this non biased as possible. (i own a ps3)

so what you got is another comp basically. you got internet connection, you got youtube, ns, facebook, email.

you got a bluray player built in, bluray=the shit

you got a music, photo, game and video system

play games, download stuff from the psn store.

you got netflix

FREE online, and its just as good as live, iv played both and really it just depens on the connection of the host if its a good game or not.

only bad thing is, most games are 1 player. so that means your friends would have to buy the game also to play with you on their ps3.

 
I would rather get a PS3. I just seems better overall. The blue ray disc player puts it way ahead.
Other than that it the game choice. I would like the PS3 games better, I do not play Halo and I dont like it enough.
One thing to think about is the Project Natal by Microsoft is going to be cool if it works as advertised
 
personally as a PS3 owner ill say this. im glad i got a PS3 instead of a 360 cause i was seriously thinking about getting a 360. sure, with a PS3 i miss out on Halo, Gears of War, and some other games that look pretty fun. BUT, with PS3 my online gaming is FREE (not as amazing and easy to use as xbox live but it works), i have a BluRay player, AND, no stupid Red Ring of Death.

for me, the BluRay capabilities was a huge buying point.
 
I choose the PS3 for the

(1) Free online gameplay

(2) Blu-Ray player

(3) PS3 only games- MLB 09 The Show

I'm not sure if the the 360 can do it....but lately I've been downloading old PS1 games that I used to have. (coolboarders 1&2!!!) And you can also download moves and TV shows, including high def.
 
PS3 all the way, blue ray player, and it has some sick ps3 only games like MGS4 and Uncharted, plus its free online.

also it has better graphics since it uses blue ray discswhich can hold more
 
I've had my ps3 for 3 years now and has worked perfectly since except when my sister spilled water on a movie and put it in. i got it warrentied though which was nice.
 
ps3 is superior to xbox in almost every aspect. however every single one of my dumbass friends has an xbox. so therefore, xbox pwns
 
PS3 sucks, it doesn't have any good games because all of its important franchises left it because its too difficult to develop for.

 
Get a ps3 now so once microsoft buys the planet you can sell it on black market for way more.
 
this is just going to be an argument with the people who own ps3's and the 360's
but for me, i love my 360
 
I have both, but the Ps3 is only used for watching blu-ray.

reason: xbox controller is perfect IMO and every single one of my friends has a 360 and is on xbox live. It seems like there is a much smaller number of people playing online with Ps3's (not sure if that is true or not, just all my friends)

If you have a hi-def lcd led or plasma television, get the PS3 because blu-rays are the shit, if not get a 360.

Also on the blu-ray thing, anyone else think they are almost too clear? I mean in some movies, the clarity makes some scenes so apparent that the actors are on a set it is kind of aggravating. I find myself disconnecting from movies because the picture is so clear it is easier to tell it is fake.
 
Even though I have experienced the RROD on my 360, the Xbox is better because the Live is so much better and the controller just feels better, plus a lot of my friends have the 360.
 
For me missing out on a blu-ray player is a big deal breaker. I originally bought the ps3 for the blu-ray and because it has way more media capabilities.
 
if you do lots of online gaming then stick with the 360. more people on xbox live and its just waaaayyy better.

plus the exclusive titles on the 360 are better just now and since it came out first and more people have it, its the priority console for games developers. (thats why you wont get huge delays between release dates like you did for the xbox and the ps2).
 
It was fun for about a week in a Sims/Animal Crossing/Creatures/Black & White sort of way.

Actually to be fair Black & White was better.
 
I have a ps3 and i recommend it. But to all the people saying that the 360 controller is better I think its all about personal preference. I think that the playstation controller is much better than the xbox's but thats just because im used to it.
