fuck me dumont got some air. when they stopped it on his first hit, that was huge, not nearly as tech tho, shows where skiing is going and how much it has progressed.
jon should have won, his run was flawless and extrememly technical. and dave was sick too, the only guy doing a 10, but alass the binding release. it seems the 5 has replaced the flair as the go-to trick, and i miss jons picture pirfect flatspins in the pipe.
i donno amplitude hasnt changed much but people are getting way more tech and i havnt seen ANYONE do a safety recently in pipe which i am very thankful for.
how about you look at the pipe deals in '03...now THAT will make you notice the "progression" it was almost pathetic how small they were going then compared to now.
except for candide and cr, they were killing it. if you look at the 02 pipe, it was pretty pathetic, if it wasn't for jon that year, pipe might have been dropped like snowblading and modified shovel racing.
I miss those Jon-flairs where he goes a good 30 feet down the pipe, sooo much distance. I also LOVED those skis, the cork 9 tail with mad trixx was money.
