X-Games Judging...

Just to clear up any confusion you guys may have regarding how who got what, let me break it down. ESPN always doesn't show everything, hell they hardly show anything. For slopestyle, Tanner won cuz he was solid on the rails and went HUGE off his last hit. He too it farther down than anyone else. He used most of the course and he did some pretty cool, yet not super innovative, shit. Pep got second becuase he sketched on the first rail but he made up with that for moves the judges have never seen before. Innovation and progression were rewarded handsomely at this years Winter-X. Jon got 3rd becuase his run was rather technical, but not innovative at all. It was not HUGE like Tanner's or creative like Pep's. That is why he got 3rd. Steele got 4th becuase he used the entire run. He may not have had the most technical or solid run, compared to candide, but he used the whole goddamn course and he nailed that trapezoid. Thats how slopestyle was judged. Superpipe was super-ridiculous. You can't even fathom, unless you were there the electricity that was flowing up in that shit. Candide won, obviousley because he layed down ONE of the sickest runs of the...ummm...past...ever. He had a practice run that was better though, believe it or not. Tanner got second and beat out Jon becuase Tanner's run was super innovative. His bio-5 was pretty big, just as big as Jon, and he nailed some shit that is definitly more tech than Jon. Ally-oop to Bio-5 to Flatspin-5 to D-9 beats out two flairs and a D-9 for sure. If I could have taken the best runs of the day, including practice it might have gone something like this. CR in first. Candide closely behind in second and Simon in a close, but distant, 3rd. Simon had a practice run that was goddamn mcnasty. Thats how the breakdown goes, I know you guys were bitching about judging so I thought I would fill you in. Let me know your thoughts.

tanner didnt do a bio 5, that was a fatspin then a alleyoop flatspin 5. i thought his run was short tho.

No matter how you look at it...I consider a flatspin 5 to be rotating almost backwards and tanner definitly rocked forwards on that. It was in that gray area which makes it sooooo much cooler.

no, it was a rodeo 5, fags

hmmm, so what were these innovative jumps pep did on his final run that scored so high? stuff the judges rewarded so high for that they'd never seen? i don't think so! maybe one of his earlier runs, but certainly not his final 'winning' run. very sketchy rails (all three) and his zero spins he was flailing arms all through them. no matter how you look at it, they gave him the scores unfairly! i was there, i saw it and so did everyone else there. you could tell by the groans and mumblings from the crowd, the announcers, and the other athletes.

Pep:

Unnattie Cork 5

Weird 720 down bottom...I think it was switch

Switch Cork 5...I think

Just some cool shit...I really can't remember it all. And he did sketch the first rail...that was it. Plus he didn't really skip any features.

yes pep did one 540 unnatural, all other jumps were natural - some 540's, an ugly zero spin and yes he did fall off the top rail and sketched the landing on the third rail, a switch 7 on the money booter(natural). he hit 8 features total. you think this was all new to the judges?

steele stomped all. he hit 10 features including the titanic rail and the channel gap. money booter clean misty 9.

tanner hit 8 features, all natural i think, greased all the rails clean, and a huuuge jump on the money booter.

one unnatural 5 on an otherwise not so clean run to win the silver over steele's creative, clean run using the whole course including the titanic rail (which no other competitor even had the balls to try) and the channel gap (which only he and candide hit), well i still don't agree.

Pep did a switch unatural corked five with a reverse mute. Thats as assbackwards as you can get. All his rails yet a little sketchy were alternating, natural and unatural. The second five he did was natural and a swithc unatural seven at the bottom.

But look at the way Jon hit the rails

regular to switch, switch on, the regular to 270 out. pep di 270 on, switch on, 270 out, switch disaster, and the unatty 5 TRUE tail. I watched it once, and liked Jon's run better first, but after watching them a few times, Pep's was better. Good for the judges to notice everything off the bat.
