I still think pit viper is a rad company and all, but damn they're everywhere now, I kinda miss the days when they were more obscure.

Pretty sure it's the law to own Pit Vipers if you ski with Black Crows these days

They became the sunglasses of choice for peaked in frat life drunks who start fights at concerts and 8th grade douches.

Chuck Mumford has made a successful company. I think they're awesome, and now they just have to scale up way bigger. I had a friend in Israel who bought a pair of Pit Vipers. They do an awesome job marketing, and it shows, also some of their glasses are pretty rad. I think this is awesome, a small local brand has made it big.

I really like Chuck, but I also feel like Pit Viper and the whole vibe of that type of retro/party/80s whatever theme has really jumped the shark. Definitely not what I’m into, but that’s why there is options!

its honestly impressive how they just blasted some cheap safety glasses with colours and sold them at a massive mark up

its the type of business I wanna run

They became extremely successful. The whole point of Pit Viper is to jump the a shark that is already being jumped by someone else. They used grassroots marketing and unique influencers(to say the least) to reach a huge market. They seam to continuity stay true to the orginal brand image but now just have capital to do crazy shit.

Not only that they are staying true to their skiing roots. Skiing is not a good way to make money but they still sponsor Tanner and hook up Tell A Friend Tour. Anyone who is hooking up JahTanner and an activation tour that is based around fun is gold in my book. Shit they gave us 120 pairs of glasses last year to give out. Dope.

circle of life, it used to be broakleys, now its pit viper, and good for them I was getting tired of seeing oakley sunglasses everywhere.

A bunch of my flying homies bought them. You know they're getting popular when all the pilots ditch aviatiors for pit vipers.

I'd rather be in a plane flown by David Lesh than a plan flown by someone wearing pit vipers.

Anytime I see someone wearing Pitvipers all I can think about is how much I don't want to talk to them.

Edit: I'd rather be in a plane flown by someone from the Taliban

I have Pit Vipers because I am a nordork and Pit Vipers look better than speed goggles.

And I may or may not have purchased three types of them....

Happy for skiers and the people who run the brand. The weird bro masculinity marketing doesn’t appeal to me personally.

Themselves as a company is still great and mostly to their roots. I got a pair from tell a friend and they’re fucking dope and I’m still rocking them. It just seems like they have acquired another audience (chads and rednecks) that also rep the brand as well as the outdoor audience. I mean it could be seen on their insta when they posted two guys “cleaning their beards” and a bunch of homophobic chads and rednecks got all butthurt in the comments.

Classic argument, the brand I like is too popular did they sell out???

Lol, they sell out like hell.... I bought 1 pair at the beginning of the year, they sold out about 2 weeks later. In October I bought 1 more... they sold out in 2 days after being restocked. (btw I don't know if that comment was sarcasm lol)

Man, for the longest time I thought pit vipers were just frat bro partywear. Ever since they sponsored riffraff.

I didn't even know till pretty recently that they were a skier-started. Must have been under a rock

Sweet Jesus. Just went to their website. Like a Gaper day merchandise wet dream.

When did they start doing a special edition straight ski?

That makes them cooler in my book. If a few chad homophobes are getting upset and having their world views challenged by a brand they like all the better.

used to be cool but they have been co-opted by CU sorority chicks who went skiing 2 times last year and scream "send it" before shotgunning 1/5 of a twisted tea

Literally come to Bozeman and fight me, my speed glasses are essential for Nordic skiing. That said, been rocking the same pair of pit vipers since 2015. All gold bb

This isn’t the argument tho??? When brands go mainstream there is often a loss of the sense of community across those that support the brand. OP said nothing about selling out...

My comment was clearly satire just shit talking the concept in general, not necessarily exactly what is happening here, but you see that type of sentiment often in the ski industry.

I was listening to some Yung Gravy because I am an uncultured white male, and I realized that his persona is literally Pit Vipers brand. Time for a collab [tag=247379]@PitViper[/tag]

Props to Chuck Mumford for getting something successful going. That being said. I know where these came from. I thought they were trash when they were issued to me in the Army in the 90's....I still think they are trash no matter what color they are.
