THE 4TH OF JULY IS ONE OF THE BUSIEST DAYS OF THE YEAR IN THE GOLF BUSINESS. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR 9 OF THE 12 STAFF MEMBERS TO REQUEST OFF!! PLEASE RE-EVAULATE YOUR COMMITMENT TO THE TEAM!!



IF YOU FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THIS ISSUE PEOPLE WILL BE TERMINATED OR HAVE THEIR HOURS CUT!!

thats an e-mail I got from the country club I work at(i dont know how to make the font smaller so its gonna be big). I've been workign there for like 3 weeks and I assumed we didn't even work on july 4 because its the fucking fourth of july. this means I'll miss ALL of fourth of july activities cuz I have to work from like 630 am-close(probly 9pm). So, i asked myself, does everyone else work on july 4th?

 
haha funny you posted this. My boss just assigned me to working late shift that day without letting me know. Now he's forcing me to try and find coverage for it which I doubt I'm going to get. It's bullshit. I had plans and everything

i love working on the fourth. one of the best days of the year at my pool. we usually go outside on our breaks and watch the parade go by
 
I know in VT its the law you have to get paid time and a half but yeah ive worked the last 4. The shift isnt bad its only 9-2 so i can go to bbq's after, but it is a storewide 20% off sale so customers are assholes fml.

and yeah I'm sure the day isn't gonna be bad but I wanted to go up to visit my friends that weekend and my boss fucked it all up
 
I work at our local golf course and I am working the 4th, 5am until about 12, but I get time and a half so I dont care. Plus I dont have a life outside of work as I dont know anyone outside of work here in OH.
 
i am supposta work the nigth of the 3rd and the night of the 4th and thats all i was put on for this week and this is after they cut my full time week down to 14 hours.

basicly im going to fuck them over this whole week and not go for the nights. i work at a grocery store that is open all night.... there jsut not cutting it these days.

im goingto have to find another job but atleast ill be selling bags
 
When I worked at a ski resort I had to work Christmas, thanksgiving, new years eve, new years day, and all the fun powder days. So dont even start
 
manager now but same idea. its a fun day

plus we dont work that late either. were only open till 5
 
the last 4 summers i've worked at a factory and the whole place got the day off and was paid time and a half. BOOYAH! this yeah i'm not working and not getting paid but i'm getting drunk and sitting on a boat or jetski all day. it's going to be awesome.
 
I typically work 11 hours on Saturdays, but luckily we are closed on 4th of July.

One of only the 4 of 365 days we are closed.

 
Nah, got that shit off, plus i don't work weekends. I mean, you work at a country club, hella people are gonna golf on the 4th so you're obv gonna have to work. In my life ive always had either no work or short days on the 4th, its epic, just gotta be the first one to ask for it off and tell them you're going out of town or something, its all about the excuses.
 
I live in Canada and thats my Brithday, and yeah I do work canada day AND my birthday AND the day after so i cant go party either days
 
canada day isnt as much of a big deal as the 4 of july where i live. we got the st jean though which is huge
 
first summer in about four years that i'm not working the fourth of july, I'm even getting paid vacation for the third which is sick.
 
its fucking bullshit... i am the 3rd most senior seasonal at the park i work at. and guess what........... i work the 4th of july! fuck. not to mention i work 1pm to 930pm. so i will drive around emptying garbage all day, and then i will spend a minimum of 3 hours cleaning bathrooms. FML
 
haha I've worked the 4th the past like 3 years. its awful. This year, i asked for it off about a month and a half in advance. so stoked to be able to enjoy the day this year
 
Isn't the 4th one of the top producers of holiday related injuries? So many mofos are straight DUMB when it comes to fireworks... google the man who put a firecracker in his mouth if you don't believe me.

Plus hours of sunexposure, dehydration, drinking, driving, etc etc, I'm sure you're hellah busy at work.
 
I work for a company that does parties with bouncy bounces and other random carney stuff, and my boss is putting on a benefit party for this kid in our school with cancer, so Im volunteering. So even though its on the 4th, Im fine with it.
 
my cousin had to work the 4th last year, he said it wasnt that bad cuz it was chill and most of the customers kinda walked through the store and didnt buy anything
 
i would work. you could make a shit load of money depending on how much you get paid and if its time and a half.

and most people who play golf are done by 7 or 8 so you should still be able to dip early.
 
You must be a dumbass, it will be one of the hardest days to lifeguard a beach, drunk people and water dont mix, you will have more cases of people drowning, coupled with the stress of people being drunk on the beach and trying to make sure people who have consumed alcohol dont swim. Goodluck.
 
Actually, no. I've managed to get off for like a week since i'm going to north carolina. i did have to work from the 26th-1st before i go, but thats fine with me. I need money to buy a surfboard. Why is it summer?
 
working 11-4... in a grocery store. everybody will be in buying hamburger/hot dogs and that stuff for bbq's all day.
 
ive worked every holiday for the past three years. it sucks. and time and a half isnt that great since i make minimum wage...
 
Never work Saturdays so obviously not working but the whole company also gets Friday off PAID. Pretty sick but we normally work 50 hour weeks and soon to go to 50-60 hour weeks so it'll be a nice break.
 
I work on a course too, but on the grounds crew so we'll be in there around 5 am, mow the greens and all the essential shit, then peace back to the shop around 8 and start getting hammered so i really don't mind.
