if u can, save up and go for the f/2.8. its absolutely fantastic. check fredmiranda, there's a bunch on there

but if you can't spend that much, wait a month or 2. there's been rumors about a f/4 IS II, which i think would drive down the price of the non-is a little. anyways, good luck

not really, it would drive down the price of the IS mk1 after a while. the non IS is so cheap already, you can find them for 450 if you look hard enough

i think i got a deal on my 2.8, $1000 for a month old lens plus a UV and CPL filter. i love it

I don't believe this out of pure jealousy.There are tons on craigslist in my area and I couldn't talk them down anyless than 500 cause its 650 new right? Plus I live in the San Fran bay area..

But I got one off NS a month or 2 ago for 490, I still feel like that is a pretty good deal cause most of them used go for 550.
