Wrenegade vs Atris

Can anybody here compare the ON3P Wrenegade 108 to the Black Crows Atris?

I'm looking for a new daily driver (bumps, trees, steeps, occasional groomer laps) and I mostly ski in Colorado. They seem pretty similar to me but I haven't heard much on Black Crows durability.

Sorry if this question gets posted all the time.

Read up. They don't cover durability but pretty much as a rule ON3Ps are going to be more durable than just about anything produced by a non-indie brand.

Black Crows is still an indie brand in my opinion, sure they're bigger than on3p and less in house on the production side but they're still a small indie brand.

To me this question is all about if you want a more charges or playful ski.

Also the blistergearreview.com writeup on the Atris is not for the current model, they made some tweaks for this year.

Owned by Elan and made in the same factory I believe.

When we're they acquired? I was unaware.

As far as being pressed in a major production factory I knew that, that's what I meant by less in house type production. A lot of brands have their skis produced in a big fancy ski factory. It doesn't really matter to me too much if the R&D and QA are good. I'm glad we have all types of brands from which to choose.

Our story

Black Crows is an independent french freeski brand from chamonix. Founded in 2006 by pro freeskiers Camille Jaccoux and Bruno Compagnet, black crows was born out of a desire to collide beauty and efficiency into skis.

That's from the Black Crows website so I'm thinking they probably aren't owned by Elan but I know the produce skis in some of the major euro factories.

You're right, Independently owned but made in the elan factory. They have the same construction style as armada and other big brands though.

Armada and Black Crows are produced in the Atomic Factory but the designs come from Armada and Black Crows independently.

Black crows are fairly pure bred, pedigree skis with a cool background.

The skis hold up fine, maybe slightly better than other brands, however (without ever riding ON3Ps) they might be slightly less bombproof than what raving reviews claim of ON3P construction and durability.

Durability and construction details aside, I think the choice comes down to your style of skiing.

Do you ski with a fairly neutral, centered stance; do you like to spin or ski switch; and/or do you like to slash around and load up the tips and tails of your skis to jump off of stuff? If so, the Atris seems to make more sense. It's lighter, softer, and poppier, but not as stable.

The Wren 108 is a pretty stout ski that, despite the generous rocker profile, still feels very directional and likes to be driven. It's an awesome charger that's not very punishing, but I think it feels best when making big turns in open spaces (unless you go with a length on the shorter side). So the more you value playfulness and slow-speed maneuverability, the more the Atris makes sense. The more you like to make bigger turns down wide groomers or bowls, the more the Wren 108 makes sense.
