Would 189 pow skis be okay for a 5'6" person?

those will be more than enough.. I have 185 Armada JJ's and I'm 6'2 170lbs and get great float in pow.

Sorry... If you were worried about them being too long, 189 might be a bit much. 175-181 you could work with.

Yeah that's what I mean. I am a small guy and don't know if I'd be able to throw around very well. My Halos are 171's and they're rockered.

This. 189 is gonna be huge on you. I'm 6'2 and I'm on 180 CRJs, which are a bit small but still work, so 189 is gonna be a lot of ski for you. You'd probably be ok on deep days in a big, open bowl but pushing those through tight trees won't be fun. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah man, i've 6'2" and i ride 185 rockered JJ's and they're plenty. They're also center mounted so i can ski switch in pow and they're still plenty for me. I wouldn't go above 180 if i were you.

im 5'7, 150 and i ride 191 Caylors and 190 Rubys. as long as you know how to ski, it shouldnt be a problem.

What ski is it specifically? Do you think you're going to be a strong enough skier to control it?

get some bigger skies, you should be on a 170+, 174-176 would be ideal if theres no rocker for a park ski.

yup. it really just depends on how much you weigh and how hard you rip.

i'm 5 10 and a pretty good skier but 189s would be pushing it for me... unless they're like the CRJs, since they both have rocker and measure about 3cm short. my sweet spot is about 185, but there's so many factors that go into the right ski length that unless you give us an incredible amount of details you'll just have to make your best guess

189 pow skis for 5'6? are you mentally slow? think about how much mass that is that you have to push around...you need a 170 at most

You're mentally slow. People are able to do it. Read the posts in this thread. A 170 should be considered a minimum for a charging. Pow is different, since people have different styles

haha are you kidding? good luck charging on your snowblades! especially if they're rockered.

expanding on what i said before, it really depends on what you want to do with the ski. the faster you ski, bigger you air and harder you charge, a bigger ski will help you a lot.

Thanks to everyone except the guy who questioned if I was "mentally slow". According to him I better just go sell my Halos too since they're more than 170cm. I think I am going to hold off on these skis and look for something in the upper 170 range. The skis in question were One Lifes, New Lifes, and Live Lifes. I weigh 130ish and am not exactly strong so I think I'd have a hard time throwing something that big around. Thanks again.

I feel like you'd be ok on 184 New Lifes, or 181 Live Lifes. They will ride a fair amount shorter. I am 6'2", and was on 189 One Lifes, I really wish they were longer, but they still charged like no other.

If your looking for skis that will be reduced to shit within the first week of riding, any of those choices you listed above would suit you well

How did I know this was going to come up?

Surface has amazing powder ski. My One Lifes have been amazing for the past two seasons, never lost any life at all. I've killed every other ski I've been on in the past 4 seasons, but my One Lifes held up through it all

I haven't heard a single problem with the Live Lifes or New Lifes.
