Worth buying powder skis?

I am a skier for the East and I ski some powder about 10 days a year. I would like to know if you guys think it is worth buying a pair of powder skis for a use of about 10 days a year? Will it make skiing powder more fun? Thanks
 
i mean no one can tell you how much more fun they will be. id probably have fun skiing pow on straight 205s if that was all i had available.

only 10 days, pow skis might not really be necessary considering the impact theyd have on your pocket, id say youd be better off getting something like the kung fujas that will be pretty sick in pow, but still versatile and kill it elsewhere.

however it is fun to have bents or something like that and take em in the park occasionally for a day to switch things up.
 
Search around the end of the season for good deals on pow skis. I bought some ll2s for 200 dollars straight from surface over the summer
 
Well if I would by some powder skis I would get some armada JJ's but I hear they are not easy to find and the end of a season.
 
considering how much you will use them do you really need some super expensive sticks (S7's, Bent's, JJ's, Bro's, DPS, Praxis, whatever)

You can get similar skis from smaller companies for a fraction of the cost. Similar dimensions and so on.

You can rent powder skis for $20-30 a day, and if you are buying JJ's with bindings, thats $600 or so. You can rent nearly brand new skis many times with that kind of cash, and never have to lug them around.

Lastly when you are out west, having a 112mm width ski just feels right for the terrain. Big mountains, big skis. At times...like uh you know, getting on the lift, Its overkill, but you run across so much terrain that soon you'll be thinking you wish you got some even fatter skis.

 
ya go for it. you will definatly notice the difference in powder. like ben said you could take em to the park for a bit to which is fun.
 
Yeah well a was kinda thinking that if a buy a pair of powder skis I should really get a pair that I think would work best since I would probably keep them for many years.

I would either suggest rental powda planks or getting a all mountain ski with like a 95mm or more waist. If you were traveling to somewhere else where they actually have real powder then gettting powder skis should be a possible option of think about getting.
 
check out next year's blends. they're 100 in the waist and rockered. I know people who ski the unrockered ski on the east and its sick on groomers and has the waist and now the rocker for the pow pow. Plus they aren't too big for the tight tree runs.
