Worst trend in skiing rn

Goggs over the helmet. Especially when it has a bitch ass white strap. Never seen something so atrocious in my life. I get it you can Do whatever you want it’s skiing… but I throw up every time I see it. Don’t understand how someone dedicated enough to get clips or film an edit also has the strap over.

am I the only one? Crucify me NS

Worst trend - hating. We all look whack af even if we think we don’t lmao

I hate this opinion cuz all the time people I know who don’t ski will see a skiing/snowboarding clip and think it’s sick. Maybe you look like a clown to non skiers but not all of us do lol. Keep hating!

I think you missed my point but okay bud

Ur point: we all look like clowns to people who don’t ski so stop hating

my point: this is not true only you and people who wear woofbiz pants look like clowns

It’s funny checking out newschoolers and thinking woah this crew has grown up and then someone post something like this….get out of middle school and stop hating. We have more important things to be opinionated about…

Listen up SpongeBob profile picture I’m wearing my goggles over and you will never stop Me. I’m already wearing a helmet (helmets look ugly as fuck don’t even try and pretend they look cool) so how much worse can goggles over possibly make it anyways

exactly, functionality over form any day

That first sentence felt broad then that second one came and I felt directly called out. This changes nothing though.

Worst trend is Tik tok skiers. If I see one more tw pro crusader imma nuke the line factory. I rather people be creative and look bad then have everyone look the same.

Also anyone who says gogs under is more comfy is lying

Gogs over pulls harder on my face and my earbuds fall out more often without my facemask yanking on my jaw. Gogs under feels better cus the strap is way less tight and I can wear my face mask in a more comfortable way while keeping my earbuds in

My strap just loosens enough to where I don’t have that problem, idk it might just be ur goggles but genuinely have never experienced that

Idk man my goggles and helmet are both Smith and should fit together well but maybe I have a weird head cus it fits together more comfortably under. Also it's nice taking off the helmet on the chairlift but keeping the gogs on for bright days

Can you fit a beanie and goggle straps under ur helmet? Genuine question cuz helmets are pretty much designed to only fit a ninja mask or whatever they’re called (back lava or something) underneath so it might just be a big ass bucket

Maybe not, either way I’m the opposite, I like to have the goggles off my face as much as possible because I hate the filter mine have so it’s super nice just pulling them up

Nah I can't really fit a beanie even without the goggle strap. I usually wear a Blackstrap balaclava or just one of those thin tube masks if I forget the Blackstrap

Oh yea I can fit my melanzana hood under as well, but that is a bit tighter and sometimes bunches up. Gotta adjust the helmet, so I save that for the coldest days when I'm probably not gonna fall anyways

Yea I don’t really understand this functionality argument. I’ve only worn a beanie and goggles under my helmet for like 15 years and have never had an issue. With helmet/goggle different combinations.

Because helmets 15 years ago don’t have the tech of these new helmets. I read a full length study about mips and I can link it if you want but essentially you can mitigate concussions and in some cases even eliminate them, which is major.

The whole point of mips is that the helmet fits very snugly on your head and it kind of acts like a gyroscope with two planes that shear, sounds insane but apparently it’s genuinely effective. However it doesn’t work if you isolate the helmet with like a beanie or something, goggle straps probably have no effect but the way I got my helmet fitted I literally cannot fit gogs under even if I wanted to. It’s not tight it’s just so perfectly sized there’s no excess room, not all helmets are like that but mine is.

Sounds like monkey has a good fitting helmet so I honestly have no clue why the goggles would tight around the face, that’s unfortunate though for sure so I can understand that. But to say you’ve been doing something for 15 years when protective equipment had evolved so much in the past 5 years alone warranted the explanation lol

I see what you’re saying.

However, I got a brand new Giro MIPS helmet last year that fits snugly, especially when tightened (wheel thing in the back, not sure of the technical term). I understand what you’re saying about isolating the helmet. Sometimes I’ll just rock balaclava and gog strap underneath. However, it’s pretty damn cold in Montana a lot of the time and a simple thin balaclava layer under the helmet doesn’t do it for me.

So come get me safety ranger I still think the gog strap makes you look like a narc. Sorry.

I think you mean balaclava…. Back lava ?

Yeah I got a ledge, fit great in store but I just ripped the inside out and wear a thin beanie instead. It’s warmer and basically the same thicknesss, so don’t think it’s an issue fits super snug and doesn’t move.

I think the main thing is to buy a oversized helmet, then wear a beanie. Doing it that way is gonna make it not safe.

The ultimate thing that pisses me off is ppl complaining about "hate" in the skiing community. If you post shit on the internet, you are literally asking to be judged. Like wtf do you even want?? Everyone just change their opinions and only be nice to everyone all the time? That isnt how ppl feel and its not real life, ppl don't like everything. And besides, even if nobody ever commented any negative shit again, guess what. THEY STILL FEEL THE SAME FUCKING WAY, NOT SAYING IT ONLINE DOESNT MAKE IT ANY LESS REAL. If ppl don't fw something I do, I would rather know about it than have everyone shit on me behind closed doors and never know what im doing wrong. Everyones just a pussy nowadays

how is this a trend? maybe in the park but everywhere else, goggles have always been worn over the helmet. idrc though. if you ski good then the style becomes less important.

I like wearing certain goggles because I like to stare deeply into the souls of ikon pass holders in line until they get weirded out and look away. This is my litterbox boi
