March 29th last season me and my dad went up to Spirit Mountain MN to ski, cause our home mountain had been closed. I was doing pretty good on everything, my dad was filming so i could put together a season edit, and so we actually got the crash on tape, i'll link it near then end. But anyways, I was tired of just pullin 3's off this 30 footer, and so i just say in my head like "screw it lets go for the seven" so i tuck hard, and for the right speed on this jump you needed to take two turns on your way down, i was too busy trying to pump myself up for the seven cause i hadn't done one in awhile. So I go off the jump, and overshoot the jump not to flat, but probably by about 20 feet and land on my side/back (on the video it's not too bad). But then i felt this crazy pain in my spine, and i was freaking out, cause i couldn't really move. Somebody had called the ski patrol, and they got me off the landing of the jump, and they said "you probably just have a bruised spine". So I was like alright, still with a tremendous amount of pain, and they offered to "cart" me down but i refused, it was the last day of the season. I skiied down the hill, bump over bump it would hurt my back, and i told my dad "I have to hit a box so i can mentally do stuff next season" go up, boardslide a box, crazy pain through my spine again. drive home, go to the ER cause it was hard to breath and still hurt a ton, and i ended up getting spinal compression fractures in four vertebre. it was crazy!
